These skills, sometimes referred to as the “soft skills” of leadership, are often the hardest ones to master. The program is designed around strengthening personal leadership through self-awareness, particularly knowing your impact on others, and knowing how to build and negotiate a wide range of personal and professional relationships to create depth and influence in your roles within, across and outside your agency. 360o Feedback report • Builds your ability to better manage conflict, develop learning agility and apply adaptive techniques to challenging leadership situations, and 360º feedback is an important element in the program, and is undertaken using the Emotional and Social Intelligence Profile (ESIP). • Raise your awareness and insight into your “leadership self”, your identity and effectiveness as a leader and your ability to interact effectively from that identity. 360º feedback is a powerful means of raising self-awareness for personal development purposes. About the program The program is designed around building the people skills of personal leadership through improved self-awareness. Leadership work in the public sector is complex and challenging. The APS generally fares well in applying impressively high levels of cognitive skill and intellectual intelligence to its work. For many organisations and individuals, staff survey results indicate that leaders and managers are doing less well and/or are perceived as not demonstrating the same strong skills in the people aspects of organisational leadership. Generally this results in less than optimal outcomes in many areas of organisational health and productivity. In times of intense budget scrutiny and constraint, people leadership matters more than ever: to outcomes, engagement and organisational resilience. The new Leadership Mastery and Insight program is designed to address these issues. It builds on the strong and successful foundation of the Leading with Emotional and Social Intelligence program, which Di and Barry delivered from 2004 to 2012. The new three day residential responds to the APS’s high priority of capitalising on the full potential of its current and next generation of senior leaders. The program offers a range of opportunities to explore and apply the Knowing, Doing, Being framework to your “leadership self ”, leadership challenges and professional relationships. This program puts it right there for you to touch!’ ‘The course was brilliant. Both Di and Barry have exceptional skills at what they do.’ ‘It gave you specific strategies to take away to apply in the workplace, and also an insight into how others see you.’ ‘I can’t imagine anyone attending this workshop and not making changes to their behaviour.’ ‘This has been the best training I have attended during my public service career.’ Optional Coaching Module One of the challenges of attending a three-day program is to not lose sight of the various insights, ideas, plans and issues that arise during the course. Executive coaching is a collaborative relationship between a coach and a coaching client. The intention of coaching is to provide coaching clients with the opportunity and support to identify and fulfil their potential in life and at work. CPM offers coaching as an optional package with all of our management and leadership development programs. The coaching sessions are provided by our experienced Executive Coaches at our offices in Canberra, but are also available in some state capitals. LEADING WITH MASTERY AND INSIGHT Training Venues
