Call for Artists: The Earring Show - Craft Council of British Columbia

Call for Artists: The Earring Show
Presented by the Craft Council of BC
After the huge success of our inaugural show, The Earring Show is back!
This time around The Earring Show will be held as a one night only fundraiser on
Saturday, June 27th, to raise funds for some much-needed renovations to the Crafthouse!
We are inviting jewellery artists from across the province to come together to help
Crafthouse to continue to be the best destination in the Lower Mainland for exquisite
handcrafted goods. Crafthouse has not been significantly renovated since 1986! To better
showcase your work we are expanding the gallery space, putting hardwood floors
throughout, reworking the retail floor plan and yes - getting new and more welcoming
awnings.
We have received a generous grant from the City of Vancouver Infrastructure Program
of $20,000 that needs to be matched in order for us to access the funds. To date we have
raised $2,133 so there is only $17,867 to go! The Earring Show fundraiser is the first event
we will be holding this year to raise the remaining funds.
The Earring Show will feature diverse examples of one-of-a-kind earrings made by artists
in every shape, size, material and concept, and will allow the public to engage with art
jewellery for the first time or to add to their collection. There will also be a competition
where our panel of celebrity judges (to be reveled later) select the best examples of
contemporary art earrings to win first, second or third prize and to be the first jewellery
artists to be included in the CCBC Jewellery Collection.
There will be a $10 entry fee at the door, which includes 1 drink ticket.

About the Craft Council of BC:
The Craft Council of British Columbia is a charitable arts service organization which supports all stages of
artistic practice in the craft sector; creates opportunities for artists to exhibit, sell and produce art; provides
a voice for artists and craft organizations and aids in the development of active communities around craft.
Since 1973 we have been making craft more significant in the cultural life of British Columbians and
Canadians. Through our public gallery and social enterprise shops on Granville Island, at the Vancouver
Airport Crafthouse, at LS Travel Retail in Victoria, and now at VanDusen, we exhibit and interpret
contemporary objects in ceramic, glass, fiber, metal and wood that honor innovation in art, craft and design
and celebrate materials and processes.
As a membership-based organization, CCBC welcomes all those who are interested in or curious about craft.
Many individuals and institutions belong to CCBC - artists, teachers, scholars, collectors, gallery owners and
professionals in related fields in British Columbia. This diversity is well represented in CCBC's governance
through its Board of Directors, which is elected annually by the members.
