CreateBolton offers different services with the arts and creating at
the heart of all we do.
Café Create – Opens Fridays and Saturdays 10-2pm offering
yummy cakes, Fairtrade coffee, drinks and simple light lunches.
We have creative activities for you to have a go!
The Gallery and Craft shop area – We have gallery space that
hosts exhibitions of school projects,
community groups and encourages
local artists to display their creations.
There is a beautiful selection of local
crafts and gifts available to purchase in
the retail area.
The Create Studios – Workshops
and classes are available in our newly
developed studios. We are a
registered Arts Award Centre too.

March
Thursday 19th March – “How Great Thou Art 2”. In Create Gallery.
An exhibition of creations and thoughts by year 8 Artists of Canon Slade School – Launch
Thursday 19th March 5pm – 7pm Invite only. Public viewing Friday 20th and Saturday 21st March,
10am – 2pm.
Monday 23rd March – “Arts Award Discover- Celebration” – Exhibition of Work.
In the Create Gallery 4.30pm – 6pm.
Wednesday 25th March – The Debut concert of CreateBoltones. In Café Create.
A small celebration of the progress so far of this developing Band. 6pm with refreshments.
Wednesday 25th March – Book Launch – “Sawdust on His Shirt” by Christian author
Roger Speare. In Café Create. Come along and Celebrate the Launch of this book and meet
the author. Discover the background to this book. 7pm – 9pm - refreshments and cakes will
be provided.
April
Sunday 12th April – CreatePraise 3pm – 4.30pm. In Café Create. A time to reflect and give
thanks to God for all that is CreateBolton come and join us.
Thursday 16th April – An Exhibition of Watercolour Creations by Aspull Evergreens. In the
Create Gallery Launch 16th April 6pm – 8pm. Public viewing 17th and 18th April 10am – 2pm.
Saturday 18th April – “I can’t do Art, Oh yes you can!” No 1 with Gerry Maloney. In the
Create Studios. A fun way to spend Saturday mornings for Parent, carers and kids 10.30am –
12.30pm. £12 for parent and 1 child then £5 per extra Child including refreshments and
all materials.
Saturday 25th April – Make your own Bath Bombs. In the Create Studios.
10.30am till 12.30pm. All materials included and coffee on arrival. £10 per person. Lunch is
available to purchase in Café Create.
Tuesday 28th April – 20th May CreateART – Arts Award Discover workshop. A 4 week arts
course for children and young people achieving the Discover Arts Award through Trinity College.
With exhibition on completion on 11th June. £60 per person. Including all art materials light tea
and refreshments and entrance fee for award.
May
Saturday 2nd May (Part 1) and 16th May (Part 2) – 2 workshops – Introduction to Pastels.
– Demonstration of different techniques – Building up of colour.
– Preparation for a finished piece – with Grainne and Sarah.
In the Create Studios. £70 per person for 2 sessions including all materials, refreshments on arrival
and a light lunch.
Saturday 9th May – Tree Ivy – “Floral Garden Creations workshop.” In the Create Studio.
Make an outside pot or hanging basket. Arriving 10.30am. Costs include pots, basket flowers
materials, refreshments and a light lunch. Cost £30 per person.

Saturday 16th May (Part 2) and 2nd May – 2 workshops Introduction to Pastels with
Grainne and Sarah. In the Create Studio. Week 2 Planning and producing a finished piece.

Saturday 23rd May Card Creations with Jean. In the Create Studios. A demonstration
and hands on workshop showing different methods and techniques of card making. All
materials and refreshments included. You will take away cards and creations. £12 per person.

June
Saturday 6th June (Part 1) and 27th June. (Part 2) “Creative Ceramics” with Jackie Noy.
In the Create Studios. A two week course introducing hand building, ceramic techniques
and glazing methods. Make a bird house or beach houses. £85 per person for 2 sessions,
including all materials, firings refreshments on arrival and a light lunch.

Introduction into learning the techniques of cutting and shaping ceramic tiles to build
up a beautiful hand-made piece of mosaic for your home. 10.30am – 2pm. Including
refreshments, light lunch and all materials and tuition. £25 per person.

local school children who have been exploring the written word and visual arts in partnership
with Neil West local author and CreateSchools. Launch Thursday 2nd July 4pm – 6pm. Public
viewing Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th July 10am – 2pm.

Thursday 16th July – An Exhibition by Anne Young. “Between You and Me. Part one.
In The Create Gallery. An amazing collection of paintings. Hidden treasures, ready to be
revealed. Launch Thursday 16th July 7pm – 9pm. Public viewing Friday 17th and Saturday 18th
July 10am – 2pm.
Friday 24th July – Come and Create. A children’s ceramic painting and clay workshop.
In the Create Studios. £5 per child. Added cost of ceramic pieces made and those chosen
to paint. Includes all Tuition, paints and refreshments. Friday 10.30pm – 12.30pm.
What’s on
Saturday 25th July. “Reloveable Candle workshop” with Karen Whittle. In the Create
Studio. Make a beautiful vintage style cup and saucer. 10.30am – 12.30pm including all

August

Saturday 12th September Tree Ivy – “Autumn Glory.” In the Create Studio. Celebrate natures
colours of autumn. Arriving 10.30am – 12.30pm. Costs include pots, basket flowers materials
refreshments and a light lunch. Cost £30 per person.
Thursday 24th September – An Exhibition “One man showcase”. Gerry Maloney. In the
Create Gallery. An exhibition of Irish delight and discovery. Launch Thursday 24th September
7pm – 9pm viewing Friday 25th and Saturday 26th September 10am – 2pm.
Saturday September 26th for The CreateBrass Explosion Concert – 7pm. Supported
by The Create Boltones our exciting and new project. At Claremont Church. Last year’s
concert at St Peter’s Church was such a success we would like to repeat the experience and
invite you to an evening of Brass with some outstanding players from Foden’s and other award
winning Brass bands supporting young players of Bolton. Tickets £5.
Saturday 26th September – A Basic Sewing workshop. A chance to learn the basics of
pattern cutting, aplique, hand sewing and machine sewing. In the Create Studios. Includes
all Tuition, materials, refreshments and Light lunch. 10.30pm – 2pm £20 per person.
Sunday 27th September – The first Cocoon@Create Mum and Daughter “ Together
Days.” 11am – 4pm. In Café Create and Create Studios. A day to be together, space for you
two is important. A day of creating and inspiring. A day that will allow you both to have quality
time together and time just for you. £40 for both of you including , refreshments on arrival,
lunch and afternoon tea and all material throughout the day.
October
Saturday 3rd October – Paper Making and Creating. With guest creator – Keith Wadham.
In the Create Studios. A chance to explore the old methods of paper making. Limited places.

Saturday 17th October – Card Creations with Jean. In the Create Studio. A demonstration
and a hands on workshop, showing different methods and techniques of Card making. All
Materials and refreshments included. You will take away your card creations. £12 per person.

Friday 30th October – Come and Create. A children’s batik and silk painting workshop.

Saturday 31st October – All Saints Eve Ball. For young people, School year 7 to 11 (detail
and Line up to be confirmed.) In Claremont Church.
November
Saturday 7th November – Creative Worship in Batik and Mixed Media with Joy Kilpatrick.
In the Create Studios. Space to engage with your Creator and create. Limited Places. Includes
refreshments, materials, and light lunch. 10.30pm – 3pm. £25 per person
Friday 13th November – The launch of Christmas @ Create. The CreateBolton annual
Craft Fayre that will run Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays until Friday 18th December
Inclusive. Inviting local crafts people and creators to display and sell their gifts and creations.
We hope to bring local talent to local people and keeping people at the heart of Christmas.

With Gerry Maloney. Discovering and exploring the Arts, creating your own masterpiece
capturing the true meaning of Christmas. Includes all materials, refreshments and light lunch.

December
Christmas @ Create will run throughout December in Café Create. The CreateBolton
annual Craft Fayre that will run Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays until 18th December
Inclusive.
Saturday 5th December – Christmas Creations with Tree Ivy.” In the Create Studio. Make
a Christmas wreath or table centre decoration. Arriving 10.30am. Costs include all materials,
foliage and decorations, refreshments and a light lunch. Cost £30 per person.
Friday 18th December. The last Café Create this year… Happy New year to you all.

What a privilege to have a growing team of
wonderful creators…
Joy Kilpatrick Founder and Lead Artist at CreateBolton. Fine Art Ceramics and
Textiles artist. Graduated from Wolverhampton in 1983. Joy has been involved
in many creative art commissions and her passion is engaging with the wider
community. The most recent being the collaborative art pieces created
for the Restoration of the All Souls Church through the Church conservation
trust. Currently joy works as a freelance artist in a range of community based
environments; schools, community centres, street art and creative ways of
being church.
Sarah Riding attended Bolton Art College and completed her Art Foundation in
1979. Sarah went on to study for a four year degree ( BA Hons) course in Knitwear
Design at Trent Polytechnic. Although Sarah spent a number of years working in
the Fashion Industry both abroad and in the Uk Sarah’s real passion and talent
lies in Fine Art and in particular mixed media paintings which she works on in her
garden studio in Bolton.
Gráinne Pendlebury graduated with a degree Textile Design (BA Hons) at Leeds
University in 1982. Gráinne spent many years working for Courtaulds Textiles
Furnishing Division as Export Manager and travelled extensively abroad buying
designs and selling fabrics throughout the world.
Since Gráinne had her family she has left the Export world. Gráinne works
locally on a consultancy basis for a small UK Textile Converter and has pursued
her love of painting and drawing by undertaking portrait commissions from her
Bolton Studio.
Jackie Noy From a small studio in Aspull, Wigan, Jackie, Creator of Hilton Farm
Ceramics, produces bespoke, handmade, personalised, ceramic plaques to
celebrate any special occasions. She produces a vast range of quirky items in
her collection.
Jackie started her career in Textiles, gaining an MSC at Huddersfield University.
After having a family, ceramics became a hobby. Soon inundated with orders,
Jackie founded her business, Hilton Farm Ceramics.
Gerrard Maloney Having been in primary school teaching for almost 40 years
and 30 years as a head teacher in Bolton, Gerry is now a freelance artist
supporting CreateBolton. With his teaching background he is keen to spread
his commitment to art and creative activities with people of all ages and
abilities. Gerry’s range of art activities is eclectic and exciting for those who
wish to develop their creative potential in the workplace, at home with other
family members or as individuals. Gerry has a great passion to encourage a
real Creative curriculum and see the arts as a real opportunity for children and
people to develop into the creative beings they were created to be.
Lauren Rosewell is a Freelance Community Artist, Teacher and Founder of ‘Purple
Rose Arts and Crafts’, based near Chorley. Lauren qualified from the University
of Central Lancashire with a degree in Surface Pattern with Crafts and has since
completed Teacher Training in the Lifelong Learning Sector whilst working for the
Charity Shaw Trust and most recently, working as the Therapeutic and Inclusive
Activities Manager for Mosaic Care Group. Lauren has also facilitated the
production of fine art commissions for various settings.
