RELEASE OF FINAL FANTASY GRANDMASTERS CONFIRMED
A full-fledged online RPG title for smartphones that shares the world
setting of FINAL FANTASY XI
At a press conference held today, March 19, 2015, CROOZ, Inc. (headquarters: Minato-ku,
Tokyo; CEO: Koji Obuchi) announced its participation in the development of FINAL
FANTASY GRANDMASTERS™ , which will provide players a MMORPG 1 experience on
their smartphones in collaboration with Square Enix Co., Ltd. (“Square Enix”). This game
will share the characters and world setting of FINAL FANTASY ® XI , developed and
operated by Square Enix. 2
FINAL FANTASY GRANDMASTERS will be the first MMORPG experience for
smartphones in the FINAL FANTASY series. The game uses the characters and world
setting of FINAL FANTASY XI , and will offer players an easy way to experience an MMO
on their smartphones. In this grand adventure, players will be able to design their own
characters, customizing their appearance and abilities in any way by combining a range of
familiar Jobs—such as Warrior, Paladin, Black Mage, and White Mage—with a wide variety
of weapons and equipment. Real-time cooperative battles also add an extra element of fun,
allowing players to help and be helped by friends online, use the chat function to
communicate with allies met online, and team up to take on powerful enemies too strong for
one player to defeat alone.
In developing FINAL FANTASY GRANDMASTERS , CROOZ will draw on its
operational expertise built up through games such as The Knights of Avalon, which
enjoys a large player base more than two years after its release in 2012. We will also
leverage our technical expertise in implementing real-time online functions and user
interfaces optimized for smartphone devices, accumulated over the course of releasing
multiple native app games. Making this game enjoyable for players on smartphones will be
at the forefront of our minds as we develop FINAL FANTASY GRANDMASTERS .
