Emerging Professionals Program
“Our mission: to encourage and promote the development of knowledge, skills and attributes in
young professionals within the CSEG through a variety of educational, networking, and
employability skills events in hopes of helping to develop tomorrow’s geoscientists today.”
The CSEG Emerging Professionals Program (EPP) is a national program sponsored by the CSEG
Foundation and the Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicists (CSEG). The initiative will
provide support for post-secondary graduates and young working professionals whom are
involved with the CSEG and are looking to develop their soft and technical skills.
Through September 1st to August 31st the EPP is looking to host monthly events where industry
members have the opportunity to interact and socialize with emerging professionals. These
events include but are not limited to technical talks, networking events, employability
workshops and etc.
The EPP would like to invite experienced industry professionals to pass on their knowledge by
giving a lecture on a topic of industry interest. This lecture will provide young professionals with
the opportunity to further develop their knowledge by exposing them to industry concepts and
processes. Ultimately, this will help them transition from a post-secondary institute to the
geoscience industry.
In this challenging economic environment there are a significant number of individuals who are
either unemployed, underemployed or are just struggling in their career. The EPP is eager to
help any CSEG member who would like assistance. It is important to recognize that the future
of the industry lies within these young professionals; to invest in them today, will allow the
geoscience community to flourish in the future.
