His Excellency Edward Turay is a Barrister by profession, studied in England and
was called to the Bar by Lincoln’s Inn in 1976, his career includes a period of time
practicing in Jamaica. In 1979 Edward returned home to Sierra Leone where he served
as a Magistrate for three years and then joined politics in 1982. In 1986 won a seat as a
Member of Parliament for Bombali Central one Constituency. Edward held the seat up to
January 2010. During this period His Excellency has served in a number of political roles
including; as the Secretary General of the ruling APC party; Minority Leader of the House
of Parliament from 1996 to 2002; Leader of the Majority party in the Parliament and

Sierra Leone High Commissioner to
the United Kingdom
Leader of Government Business where he served until January 2010. Edward was
appointed Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Northern
Ireland in January 2010, and accredited to eight other states – namely Cyprus, Ireland,
Spain, Portugal, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Greece.
Edward served in almost all Parliamentary Committees either as Chairman or a Member
and was the Chairman for the Judicial Committee for over ten years. He is the Founder
and Consultant of Eddie Turay & Associates, a leading Law Firm in Freetown, Sierra
Leone
