May 1: First Friday ViBe
First Friday ViBe is about sharing a passion for arts and the success of
local businesses with the community. On the first Friday of each month,
several businesses, restaurants, and galleries extend their hours into the
evening, offering special events, music, food, entertainment, and more.
Come down to Studio 17, 536 Virginia Beach Boulevard, to see what is

May 2-3: The Virginia Arts Festival presents Disney
Fantasia Live in Concert! at the Sandler Center
Experience one of the crown jewels of feature animation as you
view scenes from Walt Disney's groundbreaking 1940 film Fantasia
and Disney's homage to the original, Fantasia 2000 - as the Virginia
Symphony Orchestra performs the unforgettable classical score
live! Shows are at 2:30pm and 8:00pm at the Sandler

May 7: The Virginia Roots Ensemble at the Sandler
Center
The Virginia Roots Ensemble explores the music of bygone Virginia
musicians. The concert features musical traditions of the Old
Dominion, especially the jubilee-style gospel quartets of Tidewater
Virginia, string-band music of southwestern Virginia, and Piedmont or
East Coast blues. This event begins at 7:30pm at the Sandler

May 7: The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art
presents ARTini
This gala event includes ARTini samples, hor d'oeuvres, cash
bars featuring Back Bay Brewing Co., wine and cocktails, dancing
to DJ Doddie and 504 Supreme Dixieland jazz, a silent art
auction, live art, complimentary valet parking, and more! This
event is produced by Generation MOCA. All proceeds benefit

May 8-9: The Virginia Arts Festival presents Virginia
International PAN Fest
Join world-class performers for a spectacular celebration of
Caribbean music at the Oceanfront! Learn from Steelpan
virtuosos, compete with up and coming U.S. and
international steelbands, and bask in the sun and ocean
breezes. Friday 8:00pm & Saturday 10:00am at the 24th

May 12: The Virginia Arts Festival presents Coffee
Concert at the Sandler Center
This is chamber music as it was meant to be heard: the communion of gifted artists in an
intimate, beautiful setting, among music lovers and friends. After the performance, patrons
can mingle with the performers, a lovely postscript to a perfect performance experience. This

May 15: Little Theatre of Virginia Beach presents
Rumors
At a large, tastefully appointed Sneden's Landing townhouse,
the Deputy Mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though
only a flesh wound, four couples are about to experience a
severe attack of farce. As the confusions and miscommunications mount, the evening spins off into classic
farcical hilarity. Shows Fridays, Saturdays, and

May 16: The Virginia Beach Chorale presents AhhhCapella...And Then Some at the Sandler Center
A portion of this program includes beautiful arrangements of familiar songs
performed acappella - just the voices of the Chorale in tight-knit harmonies! The program
features "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," "Bridge Over Troubled Waters," the theme from
"Hawaii Five-0," "America, the Beautiful," "In the Still of the Night," and many more! This

May 19: The Virginia Arts Festival presents
Pilobolus at the Sandler Center
This beloved group returns to Virginia Arts Festival with a sampling of its
newest adventures! Over their more than 40-year history, this inimitable
company has created an art form all on its own. They have blown away
audiences around the world by showcasing the marvels of the human
body in motion! This event starts at 7:30pm at the Sandler

May 21: Pre-K Art Days at The Virginia Museum of
Contemporary Art
Join MOCA for an hour long program which combines inquirybased gallery tours, literacy, creative movement exercises and
hands-on art making activities. Early experiences with the arts
help young learners develop critical thinking, fine motor skills,
communication, and social skills. Begins at 10:00am. LEARN

May 21: Charles Barker Automotive &
The Simon Family JCC present David
Broza at the Sandler Center
Israeli superstar David Broza has been considered one of the most
dynamic and vibrant performers in the singer/songwriter world. His
charismatic and energetic performances have brought to worldwide
audiences, a fusion of the three different countries in which he was raised: Israel, Spain,

May 23: Kids Arts Palooza at the Sandler Center
Come celebrate the arts with the whole family! Kids Arts
Palooza provides local children and their families the opportunity to
interact with the various forms of the arts in a relaxed, fun, and
inquisitive environment. This event is from 2:00pm - 5:00pm at the

May 24: Kathy Griffin at the Sandler Center
When it comes to dishing Hollywood gossip and
celebrity blunders, Kathy Griffin is outrageously wild and
downright hilarious! This two-time Emmy winner, NY Times bestselling author, five time Grammy nominee, and Broadway
darling will have you laughing out loud as she shares
candid observations about everyday life, her dating
experiences, and embellished celebrity tales. This show is
recommended for adult audiences. This event starts at 7:30pm

Through May 30: The Old Coast Guard Station
presents Shipwrecks & Ghost Lore
Join a costumed interpreter as they bring to life true accounts and
local legends of shipwrecks, ghosts, pirates and witches. Tours
last 60-90 minutes. Fridays & Saturdays at 7:00pm. Reservations

Call to Artists: Ynot Wednesdays? Artisan Market
2015 at the Sandler Center
As part of the Sandler Center's seventh annual summer concert series, an Artisan Market will
take place on the first Wednesday of each month during Ynot Wednesdays? Local artists will
have the opportunity to display their work and/or sell their handcrafted pieces inside the
