COUNSELLING FOR ACADEMIC ADMISSIONS 2015
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES
1
All candidates who wish to join the various Academic programmes of
the University should invariably attend the Centralized Counselling
for admission to the respective programmes as per the counseling
schedule published in the web site www.cusat.nic.in and in
www.cusat.ac.in.

Individual call letter will not be sent to the candidates.
Candidates are advised to attend the counseling for admission as per
the schedule published in the web site.
Candidates who do not
report for counseling on the scheduled date and time at the
counseling venue will not be considered for admission. Requests for
change of dates will not be considered under any circumstances.

Candidates seeking admission to the Academic Programmes of the
University
are
advised
to
be
conversant
with
the
various
instructions,
procedures,
rules
etc.
detailed
in
the
CAT
notification
and
Prospectus
published
in
the
website
www.cusat.nic.in.

Only candidates who fulfill the minimum requirements as per the
eligibility criteria prescribed by the University will be considered
for provisional admission. See CAT 2015 prospectus for more details
on eligibility criteria of various courses.

For B Tech/M Sc Photonics and B Tech Lateral Entry programmes, only
candidates who have registered their online options will be
considered for allotment/admission as per the counseling schedule.

Candidates should report for counseling on the specified date and
time allotted to them as per the counseling schedule.
Requests for
change of counseling dates will not be considered under any
circumstances.

Candidates belonging to states other than Kerala are not eligible
for communal reservation.

POINTS TO BE NOTED WHILE REPORTING FOR COUNSELING/ADMISSION
All candidates should  report for counseling/Admission in person either with the Parent
or Guardian at the counseling venue on the scheduled date and
time.

Plus 2 Mark lists / and pass certificate (CBSE, ICSE

Original documents to prove Academic Qualifications
for Post graduate programmes. In the case of students
whose result are not yet published a certificate
obtained from the Principal / Head of the institution
last studied stating that the candidate has appeared
in their final examination and is awaiting result)

GATE Score card for M Tech admission.

Certificate to prove Kerallite Status.

Mark lists of all the 3 years
programme(For B Tech Lateral entry)

and who claim communal reservation in their online
application,

achievements in the respective sports events and the
sports eligibility certificate issued by Kerala State
Sports Council.

If any of the above certificates are not in
English/Malayalam,
Candidates
should
invariably
produce a translated version of the same in English
endorsed by a Notary Public.


FEE PAYMENT OPTIONS:
Fee can be paid by way of cash or Demand
Draft favouring the Registrar, CUSAT payable at Ernakulam. Ensure
that Demand Drafts exceeding Rs 50000/-(Rupees Fifty Thousand only)
are signed by two authorized bank officials. Swiping and RTGS funds
transfer facility will also be available at the counseling/admission
venue. For swiping service charge as per bank rates will be
applicable. The credit/debit card limits must be checked in the case
of swiping. In the case of RTGS funds transfer the UTR number is
mandatory for effecting payment.

Failure to present themselves at the appointed time for the
admission process will result in immediate and summary forfeiture of
all claims for admissions and removal from the list of eligible
candidates.
10 Non-production of Community and Non_Creamy Layer Certificates in
original at the time of Counselling/Admission will result in summary
disqualification of the candidate from seeking admission under the
respective “communal reservation” category. Attested copies of
community Certificate and income Certificate will not be accepted.
11 Rules and regulations on Kerala State Communal Reservation and
Special Reservation subsequently adopted by the University from time
to time will be applicable for admission to the various academic
programmes.

12 The University reserves the right to add, delete or amend any of
the stipulations regarding eligibility, intake, specialization, type
of programmes, rules, regulations, fee structure etc. at any time
and these will be applicable to the candidates seeking admission.
13 Claims/Requests for benefits under any reservations (Communal
Reservation/ Special Reservation etc.) other than what is indicated
by the candidate in the original online application, will not be
considered for counseling/admission under any circumstances.
14 All Certificates/Documents submitted by admitted candidates will be
kept under the custody of the university till the completion of
Qualification Certificate verification and will not be returned to
the candidate except in the case of cancellation of admission.

UNAUTHORIZED
ABSENCE:
Continuous,
unauthorized
absence
of
Candidates admitted to any programme of study for the first 15
working days after the commencement of classes will result in the
cancellation of their admission, without any notice, and such
vacancies will be filled by admitting other eligible candidates.
FEE CONCESSIONS
a) Candidates who are eligible for Fee concession under KPCR
shall remit the full fees as per schedule at the time of
counselling and for subsequent semesters/years; however,
the fees collected will be refunded to the candidates to
the extent reimbursed by the Government, as and when
necessary grants are received.
b) KSC/KST candidates belonging to the state of Kerala shall
pay fee items not reimbursable by the Government of Kerala.
They have to pay the caution deposit amount also which is
refundable after completion of the course.
c) OEC Candidates are eligible for
applicable to SC/ST Candidates. For
candidates shall submit an undertaking
to University the full quantum of fees

Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Caste (KSC)/Kerala
Scheduled Tribe (KST) and Other Eligibile Communities(OEC)
need pay only the fees applicable to them as shown in the
respective fee tables. They need not pay any additional fees

even if they get admission in All India Merit/payment category
seats.

CANCELLATION OF ADMISSION AND REFUND OF FEES: Refund of fees if
any will be governed by the following rules and regulations
prescribed by the University. When a student cancels his
admission before the commencement of classes, the entire fee
remitted after deducting a processing fee of Rs.1000/- will be
refunded to him/her. When a student cancels admission after
the commencement of classes only the tuition fee component
will be refunded to him/her, irrespective of the fact whether
he attends or does not attend the classes. There will not be
any refund of fees if the student cancels his/her admission
after the closing date of admission for the current year for
the academic programme concerned. The aforesaid rules are
subject to amendments from time to time.

REPORTING
TIME
COUNSELLING/ADMISSION
AND
PROCEDURE
FOR
The reporting time for counselling/admission for all academic
programmes, is given below. For certain programmes, the
counselling is scheduled in the afternoon session also. Refer
Counselling schedule published in the web site for more
information on reporting date and time for various academic
programmes.

The Counselling/Admission process
1. Registration:
The
first
process
of
Counselling/
Admission procedure is the registration of candidates
for Counselling/ Admission/ allotment. Only those
candidates who register themselves for Counselling/
Admission within the time limit shown above will be
considered for admission.
2. Allotment: The next process is allotment. After
registration, the seat allotment will be processed and
the allotted list will be published immediately. Only
registered candidates will be considered for the
allotment. This process is not required for certain
programmes like M Sc/M Tech. etc , where the allotment
is done prior to the date of Counselling/Admission.
3. Eligibility Verification: The allotted candidates will
then
be
called
to
the
verification
table
for
verification of their original documents/certificates
in proof of their Academic Qualifications claimed in
the application.
4. Chalan generation and Fee Payment: Candidates whose
Academic Eligibility has been successfully verified can
now collect the Fee Chalan from the specified Counter
and then move on to the Bank (SBT) Counter for fee
payment.
5. Issue of Provisional Admission Letter: To complete the
admission procedure, the candidate should now produce
their fee paid chalan at the designated counter to
obtain their Provisional Admission Letter. Provisional
Admission Letter is a very important document to be
kept safely with each candidate as proof of admission
till the end of his/her study in the University.
Candidates should produce this document as and when
demanded.
6. Higher Option Cancellation: After collecting the
Provisional Admission Letter, the candidates, if they
wish, can avail the higher option cancellation facility
(allowed only once in the whole admission process) from
the designated counter.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR POST GRADUATE/M TECH
PROGRAMMES

If the final result is not declared, candidates should produce
mark lists of all semesters except the final semester along
with a certificate from the Principal / Head of the institution
last studied stating that the candidate has appeared in their
final examination and is awaiting result.
Candidates seeking admission under BGN (Economically Backward
Class
among
Forward
Castes)
quota
should
produce
BPL
certificate issued by the concerned Local Self Government
authorities.
Candidates who decide not to accept the allotted seat (based on
options) in a particular course shall not be considered for
admission in that course any further. However, he/she shall be
eligible for admission in all the remaining higher options.
SEATS REMAINING UNFILLED AFTER THE CENTRALIZED COUNSELLING WILL
BE FILLED BY THE RESPECTIVE DEPARTMENTS. THE PHONE NOS. ARE AS

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR B Tech/MSc Photonics
AND B Tech LATERAL ENTRY PROGRAMMES
1.
For B Tech/MSc Photonics and B Tech Lateral Entry
programmes, candidates who have registered their online options only
will be considered for allotment for admission.
2.
Submission of Online Options OR allotment granted based on
the options submitted by the candidate does not guarantee admission
in the University.

Counselling
Procedure:
The
various
processes
of
counseling/admission are 1.Registration 2.Allotment 3.Certificate
verification 4. Fee Remittance and 5. Admission Confirmation.
Candidates registered for counselling on each day of admission as
per counselling schedule only will be considered for allotment along
with those candidates in the waiting list. Allotted candidates
should then move to the verification counter for eligibility
verification. There are two cases,
i. Registered candidates if allotted on the same day of
registration should submit their original certificates
for verification. Upon successful verification of

eligibility, they should remit the full course fee on
the same day itself.
ii. Registered candidates, if not allotted on the same day
of registration, will be added to all the waiting
lists of their respective options. Such candidates
need not register again for subsequent allotments.
They will be automatically considered for subsequent
allotments/up gradations. The waitlisted candidates,
when
allotted
to
any
branch
during
subsequent
allotment/up gradation, should submit their original
certificates for verification and should remit the
full course fee on the dates specified as per the fee
payment schedule published on the website.

As soon as a candidate is allotted to a particular branch
against a particular option, all his lower options will be
automatically cancelled. However, he/she shall be eligible for
automatic up gradation to his/her higher options unless he/she
cancels his/her higher options fully/partially in writing.
Cancellation of Higher options: Once admitted in a
particular branch candidates shall have the liberty to cancel all
or any of his/her higher options. For this, the candidate should
submit a request in specified format in person and should sign in
the register maintained in the counselling venue. Requests via
post/email/telephone/FAX etc will not be accepted. The higher option
cancellation can be done only after confirmation of admission by paying the required amount of
fee. This facility can be availed only once in the whole allotment process on production of the
Provisional Admission Letter and can be done at the centralized counseling venue only.
Once allotted to a particular branch, the candidate should
confirm his/her admission in that branch by submitting all the
required documents in original and by remitting the required fees
on the specified date, failing which his/her allotment will be
cancelled without any intimation.
Allotted candidates who do not confirm their admission by
remitting the required fee in full on the scheduled date will not
be considered for any further allotment/updations based on
his/her higher options, if any.
Cancellation of admission, for whatever reasons, will
result in forfeiture of all options exercised, if any, by the
candidate.
Candidates admitted or transferred to any particular branch
by virtue of the online options exercised by him/her shall have
to accept such admission/ transfer failing which no claim of the
candidate will stand for any further admission/updation.

For B Tech programmes offered in the School of Engineering
(Thrikkakkara
campus),
Kunjali
Marakkar
School
of
Marine
Engineering (Thrikkakkara campus) and in Cochin University
College of Engineering Kuttanadu (Pulincunnoo campus), candidates
having “Kerallite” status only are eligible for State Merit seats
(ie concessional rate of fees). Others are not eligible for State
Merit

UNIFORM FEE: Admitted students should purchase uniform

A candidate will be considered as a ‘Keralite’ for the
limited purpose of eligibility for admission, if
a. He/She or his/her father/mother was born in Kerala OR
He/She has been a resident of Kerala for a period of 5
years within a period of 12 years OR
b. He/She has undergone his/her school studies from standards
VIII to XII in educational institutions(s) in Kerala.
c. Children
of
All
India
Service
(AIS)
officers
(Non
Keralites) allotted to Kerala circle are deemed to be
“Keralites’ (GO (Rt) No. 822/H.Edn dated 29/05/2008). But
they
will
not
be
eligible
for
Communal/Special
Reservations.
13.
Candidates claiming the Kerallite status should invariably
produce at the time of counseling/ admission, any one of the
following certificates.
a. The certificate of Birth / Residence of the candidate or
his/her father or mother from the Village Officer /
Tahsildar or from a competent authority of local body, OR
b. The ‘Certificate showing school studies in Kerala from
Standards VIII to XII’ from the Head of School where the
candidate completed his / her study in Standard XII, OR
c. True copy of the relevant page of the SSLC of the
candidate’s father / mother showing the place of birth in
Kerala with corroborative evidence showing the relationship
between the candidate and the parent, OR
d. True copy of the relevant page of the passport of the
candidate or either of parents issued by the Government of
India showing place of birth in Kerala with corroborative
evidence showing the relationship between the parent and
candidate, OR
e. True copy of birth certificate of candidate or his / her,
father / mother showing the place of birth in Kerala with
corroborative evidence showing the relationship between the
candidate and father / mother of whose birth certificate is
being produced For claiming Keralite-AIS (All India
Service), certificate from competent authority should be
attached.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR B.TECH MARINE
ENGINEERING
There will be a separate counseling schedule for B Tech marine
Engineering. The allotment is based on a separate rank list
prepared on the basis of online options registered by the

candidates. Candidates who cancel their admission in B Tech
Marine Engineering to join other B Tech programmes of the
University will be removed from all the waiting lists of B Tech
Marine engineering. Simililarly, Candidates admitted in other B
Tech programmes/M Sc Photonics who cancel their admission to join
B Tech marine Engineering programme will be removed from all
waiting lists of such other B Tech programmes/M Sc Photonics.
Medical Fitness: Candidates opting B.Tech. Marine Engineering
programme should produce a medical certificate from a Doctor
approved by Director General of shipping, Mumbai. The list of
Medical examiners approved by Director General of shipping,
Mumbai
is
