ABOUT
Cynthia Weber
Cynthia Weber is a formally trained, accredited interior
decorator and a member of the Canadian Decorators
Association (CDECA). Cynthia’s design studio is located in her
home Historic BannockBurn 1878. This stately stone home
on seven acres is located in the pastoral countryside near the
shores of Lake Huron. Cynthia finds herself most at home
when surrounded by the things she adores; her charming
country home, her husband & love of her life Kent, and their
dashing dachshund Emmitt! Their grown son Spencer also
plays a big part in their lives!
Cynthia has a deep routed love of history and can often be
found rummaging through estate sales and auctions sourcing
those one-of-a-kind items for her clients homes and work
spaces. And when that dream piece isn’t just quiet right? Well,
that’s when it’s time for the sleeves to be pushed up and paint
to start flying because there’s nothing Cynthia loves more then
getting her hands dirty to artistically refinish, repurpose and
re-love that vintage piece!
Cynthia envelopes herself with creativity daily. She draws
inspiration from the many creative people in her life. Her
uncle, one of Canada’s favourite painters, Peter Etril Snyder
and his beautiful wife Marilyn inspired Cynthia to pursue a
career in design from an early age. Cynthia’s husband Kent is
an accomplished woodworking artist, and of course, Cynthia
is inspired by her many creative clients who enable her to do
what she loves every single day.
Along with interior design projects for clients Cynthia and Kent
also enjoy writing their blog which showcases all of their varied
interests. Gargens, Entertaining, Design, DIY and personal
stories all play a role. They love to hear from readers so please
leave comments on the blog and follow along on social media!!

COZY COTTAGES
It’s within the walls of our summer homes that
some of the happiest family memories are formed!
Having a space that reflects your personal style
can add to your happy weekend memories and
provide fuel to your soul.
Often when working on a cottage project we are
working with smaller footprints and maximizing
space is important.
Listening to my clients ideas, getting to know who
they are and what resonates with them gives me
valuable insights to help me create a space that
will become that treasured backdrop for making
lifelong memories.
THE LITTLE INN
THE LITTLE INN was an amazing job
to work on. It was creative, rewarding,
challenging and absolutely gratifying to
redesign and restore this historic Inn
that means so much to Bayfield and
Ontario!!
to built in banquettes. The barstools
are also from Gresham House and are
upholstered in the same fabric. This
provides a bookmarking effect visually
connecting the Willow dining room with
the Taproom.
A neutral palette was used in the
middle dining room to create the
perfect backdrop for any bride to
shine. The custom servery anchors the
room beautifully. Wherever possible
we reused existing elements such as
lighting fixtures, fireplace, wainscotting
and pine floors. An existing set of dining
chairs were reupholstered in a timeless
black & tan stripe.
The runner on the main and reception
staircases is a beautiful stripe by Hartley
Tissier imported from the U.K. Their
wonderful line is showcased in some
of the top hotels across Europe. The
wallpaper in the entrance is a stunning
grasscloth from Thibaut.
Custom banquettes were designed
for the Inn. I worked with Gresham
House Furniture to create truly unique
fully upholstered freestanding pieces
which are movable to reconfigure
the space for any group. This allows
such increased flexibility compared
The custom reception desk, servery,
spindles for the main staircase and
vanities in the powder rooms off the
dining room were made by a Mennonite
cabinetmaker we work with often.
HISTORIC DETAILS
A LITTLE NOOK
The goal in this project was to retain the Inn’s
historic features while updating the look to be a
bit more modern. These light fixtures are original.
Previously an underused corner, now sees new
life as a cosy nook for breakfast or lunch!
ROOM ONE (1)
WE REDESIGNED a few of the guest
rooms at The Little Inn as part of their
phase one renovations.
A crisp nautical Kravet stripe in white and
brown became the base for the look in
Room One. Simple high wainscotting was
added creating a light as air backdrop for
a relaxing, pampered guest experience.
Existing wing chairs and ottomans were
redone, various antiques were layered
in and a Gresham House sofa bed was
added for extra sleeping requirements.
Flooring in this space is reclaimed Elm
from Ontario.
The bathroom was redone to enhance
the open airy feeling of the suite.
With guest comfort in mind, new beds,
pillows, Frette linens & towels as well as
beautiful L’Occitane ammenities have
been added to all guest rooms at the
Inn as part of this renovation phase.
BANNOCKBURN
THE HISTORY OF BANNOCKBURN
The first owner of Bannock Burn 1878
was James McFarlane (1833-1899).
Born in Perthshire and educated in his
native Scotland, McFarlane immigrated
to Canada in 1856, and shortly after his
arrival located to the empty lot where
the stately stone house now sits. In 1861
he married Eliza Stewart, and they had
five children: Eliza Ann, Jane, Agnes, John
and Isabella. In 1878, after two years of
hard labor, the remarkable stone house
was finally completed.
Today BannockBurn opperates as the
home of Cynthia Weber Design’s Studio
and as an elegant venue for weddings
and events!
BANNOCKBURN 1878
FUTURE PROJECTS AT BANNOCKBURN
The restorations at the house will be ongoing. The first
large project will be the kitchen renovation. I am designing
it to fit with the historic nature of the house while providing
updated amenities.
THE MAIN FOYER
LOVE IS IN THE DETAILS
Some of the trim in the house is origional and some has
been added. We are in the process of milling trim to match
the origional and will add it back in as we renovate.
Bannockburn was home for us the first moment we set
eyes on it. It is our hope to be fitting stewards of it for the
time it is ours… for we most certainly know we are only this
generations caretakers of it and it will go on long after we
are gone.
The foyer and upstairs hallway are bright and airy. They are
wonderful places to walk through. One of the first things we
did was to add a beautiful fixture from Hinkley.
COLLECTED ECLECTIC
I have always thought of our personal style as collected
eclectic. We layer in pieces we have found over the years,
art, collections of crocks, wooden pieces, pressed glass goblets and child sized chairs all have their place. I love walking
through a room and being reminded of our lives. The texture of our personal history is now mixed with the history of
this amazing historic home. It feels wonderful.
