Description of PTO Volunteer Chair positions . . .
SUMMER CHAIR POSITIONS (Great for people looking to do something over the summer
months)
v FALL “FUN” RAISER : (K-8) Two or three Co-Chairs are needed to coordinate selling
and distribution of fundraising items – may be cookie dough, pasta, or gift wrap. District
wide. This planning begins in June.

v SAVE AROUND BOOK SALES: (K-8 ) One or two Co-Chairs are needed to
coordinate selling and distribution of savings books to our district families. This position
begins in June. Distribution will be at the beginning of the school year.
v DISTRICT SAVINGS CARD: (K-8th) Two Co-Chairs are needed to coordinate set-up,
printing, selling, and distribution of savings cards to district families.
v PARTY IN THE PARK: (EC-8th) Two or three Co-Chairs are needed for this Fall family
event to coordinate carnival games, entertainment, food vendors, volunteers, and
promotion. Planning begins in June.

v PARTY IN THE PARK AFTER DARK: (5 -8 ) Two Co-Chairs are needed for this

continuation of Party in the Park. A DJ Dance specifically for 5 -8 graders inside the
Meridian gym including food and raffles. A separate entrance fee will be charged for this
event. The co-chairs will work closely with the Party in the Park chairs.
v SCHOOL SPIRIT WEAR: (K-6th) Two or three Co-Chairs are needed to coordinate
pricing, selling, and distribution of school spirit items to Pritchett, Tripp, and Meridian
families. Planning begins in the summer so that spirit wear order forms can be included
in our August 2015 packets.

v 3 ON 3 B-BALL/HEALTH FAIR: (4 -8 ) Two or three Co-Chairs are needed to
coordinate this NEW event held at Aptakisic Junior High including volunteers,
concessions and creating game brackets and healthy activities.

v ART-IN-ACTION (Chairs needed for Meridian, Pritchett and Tripp): (K-6 ) One
or two Co-Chairs are needed at Pritchett, Tripp and Meridian schools to maintain supplies
for art-in-action art projects and oversee parent volunteers who will prepare monthly art
appreciation lessons. Specific classroom volunteers will be assigned by the chairperson
once school begins.
v BAKE SALES: (K-8th) Two or three Co-Chairs are needed to recruit bakers and
volunteers for 2-3 designated events throughout the year.
v BENEFIT DAY COORDINATOR: (K-8th) One or two Co-Chairs are needed to
coordinate monthly benefit days with local businesses such as restaurants, salons, sports
facilities, etc. throughout the year for our community.
v BINGO NIGHT: (EC-8th) Two or three Co-Chairs are needed to coordinate this annual
fun family night including ordering dinner, securing raffles, prizes and volunteers.
v BOOK FAIR (Chairs needed for Meridian, Pritchett, Tripp and Barnes &
Noble): (K-6th) In conjunction with VP of Book Fairs, two or three Co-Chairs area
needed to coordinate book fairs at Meridian (September), Tripp (November), Pritchett
(February/March) and Barnes & Noble (June). Chairs are needed to help order books,
coordinate set-up, clean-up and recruit volunteers.

v B.A.S.I.C. Awareness: (K-8 ) One or two Co-Chairs are needed to be liaisons
between the district office and PTO about BASIC events. Chair(s) will be present at all
events where BASIC information needs to be handed out to parents. (Usually 2-3 events
per school year.)
v CONCERT/SPECIAL CONCESSIONS (Chairs needed for Pritchett and
Tripp): (K-4th) One or two Co-Chairs are needed to coordinate concessions and recruit
volunteers to help with sales of flowers and candy bouquets for concerts and special
events at Pritchett and Tripp.
v CULTURAL ARTS COORDINATORS (Chairs needed for Meridian, Pritchett
and Tripp): (K-6th) One or two Co-Chairs are needed to schedule Cultural Arts
programming for Pritchett, Tripp and Meridian based on Principal and teacher input.
v D102 CHALLENGE: (EC-8th) Two or three Co-Chairs are needed to plan and
coordinate this all community 5K Run/Walk event at Aptakisic Junior High.
v FLOWERS FOR TEACHERS (Chairs needed for Meridian, Pritchett and
Tripp) : (K-6th) One or two Co-Chairs are needed to coordinate this fundraiser where
families purchase flowers for teachers.

v HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE: (EC-8 ) Two or three Co-Chairs are needed to plan and
coordinate this NEW event including finding vendors, coordinating volunteers, set-up, etc.

v HOSPITALITY: (EC-8 ) One or two Co-Chairs are needed to help the PTO welcome
new families to the district and coordinate the PTO’s response when tragedies effect
district families.

v ICE CREAM SPECIALS (Chairs needed for Aptakisic and Meridian): (5 -8 )
Two Co-Chairs are needed to coordinate ordering and distribution of monthly ice cream
treats at Aptakisic and Meridian.

v KIDS ART PROJECTS (Chairs needed for Pritchett and Tripp): (K-6 ) Two CoChairs are needed to coordinate orders and distribution of personalized art items created
by the students in January at Meridian, Pritchett and Tripp schools.

v MABEL’S LABELS: (EC-8 ) One or two Co-Chairs needed to coordinate this on-line
Spring fundraiser including scheduling dates and advertising fundraiser through flyers,
etc.

v MOVIE NIGHT (Chairs needed for Pritchett and Tripp): (K-4 ) Two Co-Chairs for
grades 1-4, and two Co-Chairs for Kindergarten are needed at both Pritchett and Tripp to
coordinate movie nights in the fall including selecting and securing the movie, food,
beverages and volunteers.
v PARENT/CHILD DJ PARTY: (EC-4th) Two or three Co-Chairs are needed to
coordinate entertainment, snacks and volunteers for this event.
v PARENT UNIVERSITY: (EC-8th) One or two Co-Chairs are needed to schedule and
organize speakers to present topics pertinent to D102 families.

v SCHOOL SUPPLIES: (K-8 ) Two Co-Chairs are needed to identify vendors,
coordinate orders and distribute school supplies for Aptakisic, Meridian, Pritchett and
Tripp.
v SPECIAL LUNCH (Chairs needed for Aptakisic, Meridian, Pritchett and
Tripp): (1st-8th) Two or three Co-Chairs are needed to schedule lunches with a variety of
local restaurants, get orders from students, order food and serve lunches. Special lunch

is usually held on the 3 Thursday of every month at each school.
v VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR: (K-8th) One or two Chairs are needed to organize the
PTO’s volunteer database of emails, as well as collect and collate volunteer forms in
order to provide lists of volunteers for each event. Computer skills are needed.
