Tupelo
is one of Mississippi’s most interesting and progressive cities; a

multi-county trade center.
Located in the northeast part of the state, Tupelo is easily accessible by air
with the Tupelo Regional Airport capable of handling all types of commercial
and private jet traffic. The city is intersected by U.S. Highways 45 and 78 and
the historic Natchez Trace Parkway. Inside the city, Tupelo’s restaurants, hotels,

Located just six miles southeast of Tupelo,
the Tombigee State Park offers the finest in
outdoor recreation opportunities. Under
the management of the Mississippi
Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and
Parks, this facility includes a lodge meeting
room to accommodate 80, two covered
pavilions with seating capacity of 150, two
air-conditioned dormitories and 7 airconditioned cabins. Reservation
information and rental rates may be
obtained through the park office.
This lovely Victorian house built in 1903 is
available for teas, weddings, receptions,
luncheons and outdoor events. The house
will accommodate 30 for a seated meal and
50 for receptions. The grounds, which
feature a beautiful gazebo and a spring
and summer butterfly garden, will
accommodate groups of 500 or more. For

Ballard Park is a great place for any
outdoor event. The park is covered with
shade trees and surrounds a small lake.
Ballard Park has two pavilions, each with a
seating capacity of 150. Also on the
grounds is a permanent music stage and an
amphitheater with hillside seating.
The Elvis Presley Lake and Campground is
a scenic park named in honor of the city’s
most famous son. Located five miles north
of the Elvis Presley Birthplace, this 850
acre facility is popular for a variety of
outdoor activities and events. Two
pavilions are available for rental and can
accommodate seating for 175 people.

upelo’s parade of one-of-a-kind shops and stores winds its way across
historic downtown, through an expansive regional mall and down the
city’s unique “Antique Trail.”
This shopper’s paradise adds up to one of the highest retail sales rankings in all
of Mississippi. Tupelo attracts national and international travelers, all flocking to
sample the diverse collection of outlet and specialty stores, antique gift items,
pottery shops, unique bookstores, consignment shops and children’s specialty
stores.
The Mall at Barnes Crossing, located at the intersection of U.S. Highways 78
and 45, is one of the largest shopping venues in northeast Mississippi. It stands as
big brother to several nearby shopping strips offering name-brand wares —
everything from clothes and shoes to imports, toys and more.
In historic downtown Tupelo, dozens of family-owned businesses and
restaurants are rooted to the spot, many of them serving the public in this location
for more than 60 years.
Antique connoisseurs are also in luck in Tupelo. With the handy “Antique Trail”
brochure drawn up by the Tupelo Antique Association, “antiquers” can conveniently

An official Mississippi landmark, the Elvis Presley Birthplace is part of the 15-acre
Elvis Presley Park, which offers facilities for picnics and community events. The
attraction includes the birthplace, museum, chapel, story wall, “Fountain of Life,” and
a gift shop. Also featured on the grounds is a life-sized bronze statue titled “Elvis at
13”, which portrays a young Elvis as remembered by hometown friends – wearing
overalls and toting a guitar. The newest addition to the park is the Assembly of God
Church that Elvis attended as a child. Visitors also enjoy taking the Elvis Presley
Driving Tour around the city which points out 10 significant locations that were very
important to Elvis in his journey to become the artist of the century.

The Tupelo Automobile Museum is a
120,000 square foot facility that was
especially designed to display over 100
antique and classic automobiles ranging
from an 1899 Knox 3-wheeler to a neverdriven Dodge Viper. The collection was
put together to illustrate the advancement
of the automotive body and mechanical
designs from the late 1800’s forward.
The Tupelo Buffalo Park, one of the city’s
busiest attractions, has more than 150
buffalo roaming almost 200 acres. In
addition to the buffalo, the park also has
exotic animals, horse trail rides, petting
zoo, reptile house and a party pavilion,
which is available for rental. Also featured
are a live pony carousel, Chickasaw Indian
Village, and the park’s “Monster Bison Bus.”

The historic 444-mile highway linking
Natchez with Nashville began as a trail
traveled by Indians and wild animals about
8,000 years ago. Later it was used by
Spanish explorers, British troops and
settlers of the southern frontier. Today the
Natchez Trace is one of our “All American
Roads” and a national scenic byway. The
Natchez Trace Parkway is headquartered in
Tupelo and offers a Visitors Center which
features a number of interesting exhibits
and displays.

brain of a teenager, or explore the coarser
side of human biology, then you’re ready
to be exposed to the full-bodied fun of
HealthWorks! North Mississippi, the new
children’s health education center in
Tupelo. Launched by the Health Care
Foundation of North Mississippi, this
museum is only the second center of its
kind in the United States. HealthWorks!
is a prime site for school field trips, and
its spacious rooms offer venues for family
outings and birthday parties.

this collection of memorabilia honors the
men and women who dedicate their lives to
the concept of ensuring freedom for all

The Private John Allen National Fish
Hatchery is a scenic outdoor facility where
the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
propagates native fish for use in restocking

A restored dogtrot cabin is one of the many
historic buildings clustered on the grounds
of the Oren Dunn City Museum. The late
Oren Dunn, founder of the museum, was
known to friends and loved ones as a history
buff and storyteller. He set out to chronicle
the region’s history and the museum
continues to preserve his mission today.

Commemorated in a park on Tupelo’s West
Main Street is the Battle of Tupelo – the
last major engagement of the Civil War in
Mississippi. The Tupelo National
Battlefield is maintained by the National
Park Service and open daily. The site
includes a cannon, a marker with text and
maps outlining the engagement.
In the rural countryside along Mississippi
370 near Baldwyn lies the Brice’s
Crossroads National Battlefield where
Confederate cavalry under the command of
General Nathan Bedford Forrest defeated
Union troops and forced their withdrawal
to Memphis. The battle is explained on
markers with text and maps. Adjacent to
the battlefield is a cemetery where 99
Confederate soldiers are buried. All but
one are identified. Four miles east of the
battlefield is the Brice’s Crossroads Visitors
and Interpretive Center, which offers an
exhibit featuring Civil War artifacts, a
battlefield diorama and interactive exhibits.
On the Center grounds, a memorial of flags
highlights the sacrifice of soldiers from
many states, both North and South, who
fought at Brice’s Crossroads.
