When Lexus launched the first RX in 1998, the
model went on to be one of the pioneers in the
luxury Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment in the
automobile industry. The RX offered the
proposition of the first ever car that combines all
the flexibility, practicality and durability of a SUV
with the handling, performance, refinement and
ride of a luxury sedan. For the new RX, we
challenged ourselves with creating the best, most
innovative luxury SUV ever built – a car
engineered without compromise, and capable of
resetting benchmarks for performance, comfort
and craftsmanship. We started by designing a
bold new Lexus ‘face’ with class-leading
aerodynamics. Next, our engineers developed
innovative new Lexus Hybrid Drive for the RX
Hybrid, then an incredibly smooth V6 petrol
engine for the RX 350 and also a compact
engine RX 270 with the same level of comfort as
the other two in the range. Equipped with
advanced technologies like Remote Touch and an
all new F SPORT edition, the new RX is
extraordinarily enjoyable to drive. To achieve this,
we drove countless laps on the gruelling
Nurburgring racetrack, proving – quite literally –
that we don’t stop until we exceed our own

Which is why we are proud to unveil L-finesse
– a new Lexus design philosophy that lets the new
generation RX exude a sporty, powerful exterior
with a commanding road presence.
Turning heads at every curve and corner is the
newly designed front grille. Featuring a strong and
expressive frontal design, the upper and lower
grilles have been combined to create a prominent
spindle shape at the front of the vehicle. This bold,
elegant and highly individual grille treatment makes
the RX instantly recognisable at first glance.
Great design shouldn’t just seek to enthral and

When starting off, the electric motor can propel the RX Hybrid up
to 45 km/h, with electric power being supplied from the hybrid
battery. At this point, the vehicle is almost silent, uses no petrol and
produces zero emissions.
At speeds above 45 km/h, the advanced petrol engine cuts in, almost
silently, but still receives assistance from the electric motor when
required. Through the near perfect distribution of its dual power
sources, the RX Hybrid provides exceptional driving comfort – together

The Remote Touch Interface (RTI) is a mouse-operated controller that lets you
manage the vehicle’s operations at your fingertips. This RTI technology makes it
possible for you to intuitively control the on-screen buttons and pointer with
your fingertips, by providing feedback to your palm via a knob that creates
the impression of operating buttons on the screen. Ergonomically positioned on

designed to minimise driving noise,

In both the Eco and Normal modes, the vehicle’s
instrumentation turns a tranquil blue shade,

In Sport mode, drive force is provided by the vehicle
during mid-range acceleration, which enhances
acceleration response. The Electric Power Steering
(EPS) system also change when the Sport mode

and Lexus’ cutting-edge research has made it easier

The Drive Mode Selector, found exclusively on
the RX Hybrid, lets you customise your driving
performance through the selection of three drive

The Parking Assist Monitor and Side Monitor
systems* make parking and starting up a breeze
by displaying video from areas around the vehicle
that are difficult to see from the driver’s seat.
When parking in a garage or parallel parking, the
Parking Assist Monitor displays the vehicle’s rear
view, along with guidelines to help with reversing
maneuvers. The Side Monitor system* streams out
video from a camera mounted on the underside of
the passenger’s seat side-door mirror, that helps the
driver to check the left side of the vehicle and avoid
obstacles.

ENHANCED FOCUS ON THE ROADS
When it comes to designing a game-changing
luxury SUV, we didn’t stop at simply making a few
functionality tweaks or updating the appearance of
this classic icon. Instead, we rolled up our sleeves
and introduced a league of new technologies
that make your driving experience much more
effortless and intuitive. Features such as an improved
advanced instrument panel with combination
meters that feature a three-dimensional layout
and elegant indirect lighting, enhanced by a highcontrast multi-information display that presents
a range of easy-to-see driving and fuel economy
information. To further enhance intuitiveness and
driver convenience, the multi-information display
can also be toggled via a multi-information switch
on board the steering wheel.
Among other noteworthy features is an open door
window warning function that lets the driver close
all windows with a single switch on the steering
wheel, enhancing passenger safety.
Add to that, an optional Head-Up Display* projects
various driving information on the lower windshield
glass, enabling the driver to monitor them without
having to significantly altering his line of vision.

navigation directions, are projected directly onto
the windscreen within your field of vision. This lets
you check important data without looking away
from the road ahead.
