RECITAL PACKET2015 - Premier School of Dance

RECITAL INFORMATION FOR PREMIER SCHOOL OF DANCE 2015
We are very excited to celebrate our 22nd Annual Recital! Parents, it is important that you read ALL this information,
so that you can be prepared for our upcoming recital. This is a very special event for your child, and we do our best to
prepare you and your dancer for this day. We have been preparing for this event for over 6 months, and we know it is
important to get as much information to you ahead of time. We try to include all the info in this packet for all the
upcoming events. Please read all the handouts that are being passed out, and come into the studio to check the bulletin
board as often as you can. When your dancer is absent, please check if they missed anything. The last few weeks of
class will be very busy for us and your child. As the event draws near, our time becomes stressful. We try
to address every little detail to make it easier on everyone. If after reading this, you still have questions please feel
to email us at [email protected]. This is the best way to ask questions, rather than interrupting class, when class
time is so valuable. Thank-you!
Picture Day – Friday April 24th, AND Saturday April 25th 2015 @ Premier School of Dance
LifeTouch will provide the photography for our dance studio. Each class has a scheduled time; you can look at Premier’s website
for the schedule. Class photos are scheduled every 15 minutes. You will need to arrive 15 minutes prior to this scheduled time.
Dancers need to be dressed and ready for their picture. Bring all extra costume pieces, including hair accessories, belts, dance
shoes, and props. Please be on time. If you are late for your scheduled picture, then you will miss the class photo. The studio
parking lot will be crowded, and you may need to park by the church. Please be careful in the parking lot, and carpool if you can.
If you are unable to attend your class photo or are unsure, please let us know ASAP, so that we are not waiting for you.
Online-Parents can pre-order photo packages online, by checking our website for the link or check the bulletin board near the front
desk. If your dancer is in more than one class you will need to order each class individually. You will be able to order photos online
by following the same process after Picture day as well.
Studio orders – if ordering photos on the day of Pictures, envelopes will be available about a week before Picture Day. You will
need one envelope for each class that your dancer is in. (You will be able to write one check for all.) Payment for the package (on
picture day) must be by check or credit card. LifeTouch does NOT accept cash. Packages and prices vary. You do NOT have to
purchase photos. However, we do like all dancers to attend for their class picture for our wall.
Photos will be available to pick-up at Dress Rehearsal, May 27th & 28th. We will not be mailing any photos. Pictures will be
available for pick up at Dress Rehearsal.
Dress Rehearsal – Wednesday May 27th and Thursday May 28th @ Legacy High School
Legacy High School is located at 2701 W. 136th Avenue in Broomfield. The auditorium is located on the west side of the school.
Rehearsal will begin at 5:00pm. Dancers should arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled rehearsal time for their class. The Show order
and Dress Rehearsal order will be posted (bulletin board & website). All dancers are expected to attend rehearsal. We will not
rehearse the show in order. Each class gets 10 minutes on stage. This schedule is based on age and conflicts with multiple routines. This
is the only time you can video record your child dancing. You can NOT video tape during the recital. You can take photos as long
as there is NO flash.
Dancers need to arrive in costume, with hair and make-up done. Any alterations to costumes need to be completed before dress rehearsal.
During Dress Rehearsal the backstage dressing rooms will only be available to the any dancers who have multiple routines for costume
changes. Restrooms will also be available for changing as well. All classes will sit in the theater while rehearsal is taking place. That
way they can see all the other classes perform.
All dancers are allowed to leave after their class rehearses onstage. Delays will occur, as we are trying to set the technical aspect of the
show. Letting the dancers become familiar with the stage is a crucial process and will help them feel more comfortable during the
performance. Please be patient with us. We encourage all dancers to watch the show, as this may be the only opportunity to see the other
classes. Parents are expected to monitor their kids, and not let them roam around the building or run up and down the aisles. Please be
courteous by waiting quietly and entering/exiting the theater between dances.
NO food or drinks are allowed in the theater. If you need a snack you will need to eat in the lobby. Please understand this is a
rule set by the school district and is in the contract for us to keep the theater clean.
Every year our competition team sells snacks and drinks during rehearsal and the show. They also sell flower bouquets at the
performance as a fundraiser for the team. Please show your support to our studio and your dancer!
Tickets
Tickets will go on sale at the studio beginning Friday May 8, 2015; and during regular business hours 4:30-7:30 Monday –Friday
and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Ticket prices will be $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children per seat. Children under 3
do not need a ticket. Seating is general admission. There is NO limit to the amount of tickets you can purchase. If you plan to
attend both shows, you will need to purchase a separate ticket for each show. Ticket prices will go up the day of the performance,
($12.00 for Adult and $7.00 for Children). Purchase your tickets early! If you plan to purchase tickets during dress rehearsal or at
the door, on the day of the show you may use cash, check or credit cards.
Performance Attire
Performance attire applies to both the dress rehearsal and the show. Dancers under the age of nine can wear make-up, depending on
what you, the parent, feel is appropriate. Faces can get washed out on the stage with the bright lights, so a little make-up can
enhance their facial features. Lipstick, blush, and mascara are really the best for the younger dancers. Please use your discretion.
Dancers age ten and older should be wearing performance make-up. Please check with your student’s teacher if you have any
questions. Dancers also need to wear their hair at dress rehearsal the same way it is to be worn on performance day. No matter the
hair style, hair needs to be slicked back and neat for the performance. Remember, seeing their face is important from far away.
Please NO glitter, NO temporary tattoos, and NO jewelry. Small stud earrings are fine if newly pierced ears.
Female dancers should not wear underwear underneath their tights. Panties create bulk underneath the costume, and underwear
should not show. Nylons and panty hose are not tights. Male dancers over the age of ten should wear a dance belt. All pieces to the
costume should be sewn and adjusted before dress rehearsal. This is how we determine if there is a costume problem. Older female
dancers need to wear the appropriate bra (no straps showing) or undertog beneath their costume. Please determine this ahead of
time, so there are no embarrassing moments for the dancers! The better prepared each dancer is for rehearsal, the better the
performance. All shoes and tights should be in good condition. The list for tights and shoes will be posted. Check at the desk if you
have questions.
Last shoe order will be placed April 15th, 2015.
Videos
No videotaping or recording is allowed the day of the performance. We will have a professional videographer available to record
this special event. You can purchase a DVD from AKA Video. Order forms will be available prior to dress rehearsal, and even
during the show. This is a wonderful way to capture and permanently remember your child’s performance. **Parents and family
members are NOT allowed to post any recordings of Premier students online, without our permission.**
Performance Day- Show 1 is Friday May 29th, 2015 at 6:30 p.m.
Show 2 is Saturday May 30th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. and Show 3 is Saturday May 30th, 2015 at 3:00p.m.
Please arrive 30 minutes before show time to get checked in. We have a contractual agreement with the school district, so please do
not arrive earlier than posted. Plus, if younger dancers are ready too early, they get tired! Bring dancers to the backstage area.
Parents can then wait for the doors to open. The theater will open 20 minutes before the show.
Dancers should arrive with hair and make-up ready. Younger dancers should be in costume. Level IV, IVA, V and VI dancers, with
multiple routines, should be ready to warm up onstage 20 minutes before the show. All dancers are assigned a dressing room based
on the number of routines they have and how close together they are. The choir room is where the majority of the kids will be.
Dads are NOT allowed in the dressing rooms. There will be signs posted with the names of dancers/classes where your dancer
needs to be. Teachers and volunteer parents will be assisting. It is helpful for each dancer to have a dance bag or sack with their
names, so that we can easily locate their things. We try to keep dancers together by dance class. Parents can also include items to
entertain the kids (games, books, toys, dolls). Do not pack any food items as the can get on the costumes. All dancers MUST
remain backstage. We do not allow any dancer to leave the area once the show has begun. Parents are not allowed to come
backstage to pick up their dancer until the show is finished. We do this for several reasons: 1) to insure their safety; 2) so all
parents, family, and friends can enjoy the show uninterrupted; 3) to teach performance etiquette; 4) and, so all dancers can return to
the stage for a final bow and receive their recital ribbon. After the curtain is shut, 1 parent can come to the backstage area to pick up
their child. Do not try to get your child from the stage! This can be very chaotic. The show will be approximately 2 hours (give or
take 15 minutes). Again, please do not come backstage to visit your child as the younger dancers get restless, and this upsets the
flow of the show. Teachers and parent volunteers are busy with specific duties. Once the show is finished dancers need to clean up
their area, gather personal items, and depart in a timely manner.
A signup sheet for parent volunteers to assist in the dressing area will be posted soon. Each volunteer parent will be
responsible for a specific class, and will have set responsibilities. Each volunteer will receive one free ticket for another show.
We will need 8-10 moms for each show.
