Building Up Our Communities - And Our World

TO OUR FRIENDS
letter from our president
The Deacon Charitable Foundation was founded to support the communities where we live, work and
play. We fund organizations that address vital community needs in areas chosen through our bi-annual
survey of all employees: human services, animal welfare and the environment. Our four all-volunteer Giving
Committees guide our grantmaking decisions, in accordance with these employee preferences.
I am very proud of the commitment our employees demonstrate by their participation in our employee
matching grant program, participation in community service events and just their overall caring about
helping others.
Thank you to our clients, subcontractors and friends for your part in making our charitable giving possible.
And thank you to our employees for embracing our corporate mission to “support our communities”.

OREGON FOOD BANK
The Oregon Food Bank remains a favorite
site for our employees who donate time on
Saturday mornings to sort and pack food for
distribution to sites across Oregon.
The statewide network of regional food banks
distributed more than 1 million emergency
food boxes last year.
SIERRA FOREVER
FAMILIES
Last summer our Sacramento Giving
Committee volunteers received a plaque
of thanks from Sierra Forever Families,
an organization focused on building
nurturing, permanent families for more
than 3,000 youth in the foster care
system in Northern California.
The Deacon Charitable Foundation has
been pleased to support Sierra Forever
Families each year since 2007, providing
over $50,000 in grant funding.
MORE
