High humidity will lead to permanent dampness and mould resulting in a deterioration of the materials in your bathroom. Vanity tops - Acrylic, Mineral Cast and Ceramic Essentia vanity tops are manufactured from the finest materials and when treated with care will last for many years. Vanity tops must not be subjected to water temperatures above the recommended safety level of the power boards ie: 55ºC or come into contact with solvents or strong chemicals. Keep heat away from the vanity top and avoid metal or other sharp objects which could scratch and damage the surface. Ceramic Vanities Due to ceramic vanities being hand-crafted and individually customised, and because china is fired at high temperatures, some visual distortion may be evident – but we feel that this adds to the natural beauty of the product. Care of your vanity top To clean your vanity top simply wipe over with a damp cloth after each use. For best results, St Michel recommends you use one of the listed household cleaners. ~ Ajax Spray n’ Wipe ~ Duck Bathroom Spray ~ Jif Power Spray ~ Brasso – to remove stubborn marks Do not use abrasive cleaners, chemicals, disinfectants, acetone, alcohol or cleaners which incorporate isopropyl alcohol. N.B. The use of cleaners incorporating ingredients which have been identified as having harmful effects on the acrylic and composite stone surfaces will void the St Michel warranty. Cabinets Essentia cabinets are manufactured from quality melamine or thermal laminate board (durashell). Materials used are water resistant and not water proof. To ensure long life of the cabinet, water must not be allowed to remain on the cabinet surfaces. All water spillages, leaks or flooding in or around the cabinet must be sponged off and dried immediately. the vanity cabinet and avoid or other objects KeepKeep heat heat awayaway fromfrom the vanity cabinet and avoid metalmetal or other sharpsharp objects which scratch and damage the surface. which couldcould scratch and damage the surface. of your vanity cabinet Care Care of your vanity cabinet The vanity cabinet can be cleaned soft damp a liquid The vanity cabinet can be cleaned usingusing a softadamp clothcloth with with a liquid household cleaner dryalloff all surfaces cleaning. household cleaner ~ dry~off surfaces after after cleaning. Leave a gapa of at of least 150mm between the bath and the cabinet. VANITY TOPS Acrylic & Mineral Cast Some models are supplied with the top loose (for merchant flexibility) and require fixing in situ. If your top is not attached to the cabinet it is easier to fit the taps and waste fitting prior to gluing. The top can be fastened to the cabinet using Expandite SB Adhesive, Panel Bond or similar. Spot gluing only is required. Ceramic The process of manufacturing ceramic products is highly complex. During its manufacture the product shrinks significantly and can result in the product being slightly uneven. It is recommended that the ceramic top be fixed onto the cabinet with silicone. This will ensure the top will not rack or move once installed. Apply silicone to side top edges of the cabinet. If Ceramic tops are fitted to wall hung cabinets the ceramic top should be fixed to the wall with the fasteners supplied. All vanity tops should have a bead of silicone (especially formulated for bathroom use) applied between the rear upstand or back edge and the wall. Ensure silicone is used according to manufacturer’s instructions. CABINETS Floor Standing ~ Ensure the floor is level or the vanity is packed under the base to make the vanity level. ~ Drill holes for pipes in base and rear of unit (if applicable) with appropriate size hole saw. ~ Position unit, check cabinet is sitting level and square and screw fix to wall. Wall Hung ~ Ensure the wall is straight (horizontal and vertical). ~ Do not screw fix the cabinet to a bowed wall as it will twist the cabinet and distort the door alignment. ~ Decide appropriate height for work surface of vanity top. Recommend between 840 and 900mm. ~ Deduct the thickness of the vanity top / basin or vessel basin and this becomes the fixing height to the top of the vanity cabinet. ~ Drill holes for pipes in rear of unit and base (if applicable) with appropriate size hole saw. ~ Position unit, check cabinet is sitting level and square and screw fix to wall fixings should be into solid timber and be within 150mm of each side. I M P O R TA N T A bead of sealant especially formulated for bathrooms should be used to seal all edges where water penetration may occur ie: between cabinet and wall, cabinet and floor. Where a basin or vessel basin is to be fitted it is essential that the basin be fully sealed to the cabinet and top to prevent any water penetration. HINGES Essentia use clip hinges which require only light finger pressure to clip into place and allow the doors to be easily removed for access to plumbing fittings. Door Alignment Your doors have been adjusted in the factory on a level surface to achieve matching height, equal gap and surface alignment. Before you adjust the doors ensure again that the vanity is level and true and not twisted (see cabinet instruction previous). If when level the doors still do not align, adjustment can be made to the hinges as follows: A. Side adjustment - to move the doors sideways in total or to level each door - turn screw A clockwise or anticlockwise. B. Depth adjustment - to move the door inward or outward from the carcass loosen the hinge arm fastening screw B and slide in the direction you want to go. Retighten hinge arm fastening screw B. C. Height adjustment loosen the top and bottom screw C on each mount plate, adjust and retighten.
