That’s how to plant them, fertilize them and making sure they stay healthy until they can produce those godly blooms we all lust after. Our in-house Yoda will walk you through the simple way of making it successfully to those flowers. This is one talk you DON’T want to miss. Everytime Jim talks, I learn something new. From Our Greenhouse DID YOU COME? Don’t get too excited, I meant to the April meeting. If you did, you had the opportunity to purchase some great seedlings that Gail acquired for us. They are Blc Sarah Palin Mericlone Seedlings (don’t be put off by the name, these are really smart looking orchids.) They will grow one of the flowers you see below. Everyone was shocked to find out they were only $3.00. Well, lightning does strike twice! If you bought one of the seedlings last month, come to this month’s meeting and get another one for Free. If you didn’t have a chance to make last month’s meeting, come this month, buy one for $3.00 and get a second one for Free! Maybe you better go back and read that again. I already have the car started and can’t wait to get there. Hi, some of you may not know me yet, but I am the Orchid Greenhouse at the Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens. I have been a member of the Deep South Orchid Society for over three years now. Prior to becoming a member of the Orchid Society, I had nothing green inside of me. But now, with the help of many of the members I have over 1,000 of the members orchids stored safely inside. I know we could become close friends if you would just come visit me. I do get visited by people from all over the country from as far away as Alaska and Hawaii to look at the beautiful orchids inside. Also the Chatham School System has put me on their preferred friends list and many classroom of students come to marvel at the orchids. If you are worried about it being too hot in the summer to visit me, not to worry. I have a cool wall and two large fans that keep the temperature around 90 degrees, perfect for all my plants. Now you may ask what is a cool wall. It is a large filter at the far end of my structure that water is poured over and when air is pulled through the filter by the two large fans at the other end, it provides cool humidity to my inside. My inside is kept orderly and clean by volunteer members of the Deep South Orchid Society, which I greatly need and appreciate. As you all know orchids have a mind of their own and keep growing and multiplying.. My flowers are also a huge draw to the local photographers. On any given day, there is usually someone in the greenhouse taking pictures of my flowers. The Botanical Gardens also thinks that I have become quite attractive and point all of their visitors in my direction. I am very flattered. If any of you would like to come and visit, stop by the Welcome Center,. sign in and drop by any time. I would so like to meet more of you. I understand, that there will be a meeting of the Orchid Society, Sunday May 17th starting at 2:00. Please stop by before or after the meeting and visit me. I am quite proud of what I have become. I am going to attach some selfies of the flowers inside, hope you enjoy. Your New Friend The Orchid House at the Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens. Hope to see you in the future.
