Specialty Camps
Inside you will find a complete listing of our specialty camps being offered this summer. Because each camp has a unique agenda and skill level, your child must fall within the appropriate age range. When filling out the application, please keep in mind that you can only select one camp per week. (Attention: When specialty camp is over, all children continue their day with the same planned activities outlined in the summer camp)

We would like to welcome our new camp Director this
year at Deer Lake Athletic Club. Mr. Jake Card has been
working as a teacher at Everest Collegiate School in
Clarkston for 5 years. He is also the Area Director for the
Special Olympics of Oakland County over the past year.
Mr. Card has coached football, basketball, soccer and
baseball at the youth, high school, and semi-professional
levels over the past 10 years. We are happy to have him
aboard this summer!!

Cooking Class (ages 5-12) June 15 – 19
Soccer Camp (ages 5-12)
Teach your child how to prepare food
inside a restaurant kitchen. Deer Lake
will teach them how to prepare culinary
delights for your whole family.
This class is set up for more advanced players. Campers will be
divided into two groups based on their ability. Coaches will work on
ball handling and offensive and defensive tactics. Scrimmages will be
played at the end of classes. (Intermediate/Advanced)
Lacrosse Camp (ages 5-12)
June 22 – 26
Lacrosse is a fast paced and exciting sport that has been gaining
popularity in our area. Campers of all ages and abilities will be taught
the basic skills of the game such as cradling, passing and catching and
even setting up plays! This camp is run by one of our local high
school coaches with over 7 years of playing and coaching experience.
Flag Football (ages 5-12)
July 6 –10
Learn the basics of flag football rules, fundamentals, passing,
catching, and route running. A great experience for those new to the
game and want to improve their skills prior to the fall season.
July 20 – 24
Arts & Crafts Camp (ages 5-12)
We have combined all areas of arts into one busy week of fun!
Children will dabble in many art media and will be introduced to the
fundamentals of art. Campers will be encouraged to express their
creativity and individuality.
Pillo Polo (ages 5-12)
August 3 – 7
Pillo Polo is played to hockey rules, except that in Pillo Polo, there are
no Red or Blue lines and the goalie is allowed to pick up the ball and
throw it down field. This camp will teach the basics of hockey while
playing a fun.
Tennis Camp (ages 5-12)
Dance & Poms Camp (ages 5-12)
July 13 – 17
Dance and Poms is a week long odyssey into the world of dance and
Poms. The camp is filled with learning and fun as children master the
foundations of dance and pom team fundamentals. Each class begins
with a warm-up and stretching section to improve flexibility and
cardio vascular endurance. Campers will learn basic dance technique,
including different jumps, turns and kicks. Participants will learn
spirit cheers that are used by college cheer teams, as well as a fun
timeout dance! No experience required! So bring your imagination,
and come join Michigan University Dance Team Member Kendall
Huizenga for a youth dance and pom-pom class! Let the fun begin!

August 10 – 14 & August 24 – 28
Kids of all ages who want to learn the "game of a lifetime" can do so
at Deer Lake. Featuring the basics, including rules, grip, stance,
swing and match etiquette. Campers will train with our resident pros,
develop their skills and play fun games all morning.
Under the Sea Camp (ages 5-12)
August 17 - 21
Want to explore the shipwrecks of the Great Lakes? Take a dive below
the surface and come face to face with a humpback whale? Maybe
you want to learn how to swim like an Olympian. This camp will
include lessons on swim technique and fun explorations of the Great
Lakes and Oceans, crafts and hands-on activities. Outdoor Fun Pool

Safety: The safety of our campers is our highest priority. Aquatics staff have WSA Lifesaving, First Aid and CPR
Certifications. Staff: Deer Lake’s Summer Fun & Specialty Camps are under the direction of an experienced Deer Lake Camp
Director. Camps are staffed with carefully selected counselors. Discounts Available!

Members Only. Discounts are available for multiple full weeks. Discounts
cannot be combined and are available only when programs are paid in full
at the time of purchase.
Registration Policy: The balance in full is due 7 days prior to the camp session start. Specialty Camp Options are
available for full weeks only. Summer Fun Camps are available weekly and for 1,2,3, and 4 days.
Refund Policy: There are no refunds once camp has started. Camp credit will be given for a physician verified
illness lasting 2 or more consecutive days. Transfer of days/classes is allowed up to 1 week before class begins. No
transfer to another week are permitted after the Thursday before the camp week starts. In the event of rain, outdoor
specialty campers will go inside and may participate in activities other than that for which they registered. There will
be no makeup days or refunds if rain days do occur. No refunds or camp credits after August 31st.
