Course Descriptions Flagger Course The ATSSA Flagger Certification course is required for personnel that are involved with traffic control safety in highway work zones. This course meets all flagger training qualifications for Delaware, in addition to surrounding states such as PA and NJ. Certification for this course is valid for 4 years. Certified flaggers are encouraged to conduct an online search to locate placement agencies and/or companies that are seeking flaggers, as the Delaware Safety Council does not assist with job placement. Effective January 1, 2014 the cost is $60 per person and includes student materials and certification card. Registration and pre-payment is required for all Flagger Certification Courses. Member: $55 Non-Member: $60 Forklift Operator Classroom Safety Training This comprehensive classroom training is designed for forklift operators. It addresses pre-start safety inspection, lift truck design considerations and safety procedures for picking up, moving with, and setting down a load. Students will learn practical techniques to help prevent costly and tragic lift truck collisions. OSHA requires that forklift operators regularly receive safety training. Member: $135 Non-Member: $155 Forklift Safety Instructor Development Forklift training for forklift operators is required by OSHA. This course is ideal for managers that provide safety training for their forklift operators. Students will become certified in the Coaching Systems Forklift Safety Training Program. Participants will learn what it takes to comply with OSHA's Powered Industrial Truck Standard (1910.178) and practical information for developing a complete in-house training session. This course will cover how to implement effective training techniques. Students will be given an opportunity to practice the training. Member: $495 Non-Member: $555 CPR/AED Certification Course This certification provides students with techniques for administering adult CPR/AED life-support as well as information about appropriate response procedures in various emergency situations. Upon completion of the course, each student will receive an American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) CPR Certification Card valid for 2 years. This course meets OSHA standards. Please note, this course is not intended for Healthcare Professionals. Member: $45 Non-Member: $55 First Aid Certification This is an essential course for key employees in all work environments. This ASHI certification course will give students up-to-date, medically accurate information as well as instruction on the proper sequence of actions to take in various first aid emergencies. Upon completion of the course, each participant will receive an American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) First Aid Certification Card valid for 2 years. This course meets OSHA standards. Please note, this course is not intended for Healthcare Professionals. Member: $45 Non-Member: $55 Childcare and Babysitting This training class provides young adults with the basic skills, training and information necessary for the proper care of infants and children. Topics include emergency action steps, personal safety, fire safety, infant care, basic first aid (including choking response) and other situations that can arise while caring for children. This class is geared towards ages 10-15 and is certified by ASHI. Member: $35 Non-Member: $45 Defensive Driving The majority of roadway accidents are caused by driver error. Understanding the concept of “defensive driving” can help to reduce the likelihood of you being involved in an accident. The course will provide you with techniques to help prevent and avoid accidents, information on new laws and regulations and more. Our Defensive Driving courses are fully approved and certified for up to 15% auto insurance premium reductions. We have in class and online defensive driving courses. Basic: $35 Advanced: $30 Online: $32 OSHA Permit Required Entry Confined Spaces This comprehensive training program is designed for on-site supervisors, safety managers, public works professionals, and other employees responsible for safety operations and OSHA compliance. Participants will receive training in confined space identification, documentation, explanation of the design and administration of an on-site compliance program. Also covers any regulatory changes. Member: $130 Non-Member: $155 Electrical Safety NEPA 70E 2015 Injuries and fatalities due to electrical hazards occur in the workplace and on job sites. This course focuses on safe work practices involving electrical systems. This training covers arc flash hazards and revisions to OSHA standards. Member: $130 Non-Member: $155 Boating Safety This 8-Hour classroom course is fully sanctioned by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC). Completion of the course is mandatory for persons born after January 1, 1978 in order to operate a boat or jet ski on Delaware waters. After completing the course and passing the examination, students will receive a Delaware Safe Boating Certificate. Member: $30 Non-Member: $35 Pet First Aid An essential course for pet owners, this ASHI certification course will give students up-to-date, medically accurate information as well as instruction on the proper sequence of actions to take in various first aid emergencies regarding your dog or cat. Upon completion of the course, each participant will receive an American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) First Aid Certification Card. Please note, this course is not intended for Healthcare Professionals. Class fee includes: (1) ASHI Pet First Aid Student handbook to take home, first aid supplies to be used in the classroom, and life-sized pet manikins to practice new skills on while in classroom.
