Where is the PALM café held?
The PALM Cafe takes place in the St
Joseph’s Centre, Balerno next to Balerno
Parish Church, 0.5 miles off the A40
(Lanark Road) in the village of Balerno.

PALM is a group that provides a social
We offer a varied programme of
activities including music, movement,
reminiscence and craft. We have
regular guest speakers, entertainment
and a summer outing. Tea, coffee and
delicious cakes are provided for a small
donation.

 To provide a space for people with
dementia and their carers to meet
others for support and social contact.
 To use activities to enhance the
wellbeing of the person with
dementia.
 To provide an opportunity for informal
support and information for carers.
Dementia Friendly
Communities
PALM is working with Alzheimer's
Scotland and the City of Edinburgh
Council on a local Dementia Friendly
Communities Project. This involves
working with the whole community
(shops, businesses, churches, social
groups and local services) to help
people with dementia to remain a part
of their community and not become
apart from it. If you would like to get

When is the café held?
The PALM café is held in the St
Joseph’s Centre, Balerno on the last
Tuesday of the month 2.30pm-4pm.
We welcome volunteers to help in the
running of the PALM cafe. You do not
require any previous experience and
any time you can give will be greatly
appreciated. Training will be offered to
all volunteers. Please Contact Kay
