About the Speaker

inflammatory diseases?
Dr. Brian L. Mealey
Brian L. Mealey, D.D.S., M.S., Professor and Graduate
Program Director in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Mealey
served 21 years in the United States Air Force where he was
Chair of the Department of Periodontics and Program Director
of the Air Force Periodontics Residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio. He is a Diplomate of the American
Board of Periodontology and served many years as Director of
the Board. Dr. Mealey is co-editor and author of two textbooks
and has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles focused on
periodontal medicine. He maintains an active clinical practice in
periodontics and implant dentistry.

Continuing Education Credits
This course is designed to provide 6 hours of continuing education credit. Minnesota
credits: 5 fundamental credits and 1 core credit (diagnosis & treatment planning.) However, credit given depends on hourly attendance (1 hour = 1 credit.)

in basic equipment assessment, maintenance and repair?
Then you and your dental team will want to enroll in this unique course.
You will be given a variety of simulated equipment problems to assess
and repair during chairside, hands-on experiences designed to heighten
your understanding of common equipment malfunctions. You will also
benefit from up-to-date information on OSHA/Infection Control requirements related to dental equipment maintenance. Bring your toughest
maintenance questions and challenges to the experts, and return to
practice ready to keep your office running smoothly.
With the knowledge and hands-on experience gained in this course, you
will be able to:
• identify and address basic maintenance requirements for both
large and small equipment components.
• describe some of the most common problems associated with
specific pieces of equipment.
• define or refine your office’s program for handling hazardous
wastes related to equipment maintenance.
• identify the cleaning and disinfection solutions recommended for
use on your dental equipment.
• refine your office’s x-ray inspection and repair manual.
• define the equipment maintenance requirements for your dental
office.
Who Should Attend: Dental team members responsible for maintaining
and troubleshooting both large and small dental office equipment.

Dennis Steele, Diploma, Electromechanical Technology; Diploma,
Electronic Technology; additional certification, licensure, and/or training in refrigeration, low pressure steam, sterilizer repair, and dental
manufacturers' service and maintenance. Mr. Steele served as primary
dental engineer for the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry for
30 years.
