Denver Parks and Recreation Event Venues
The following rental guidelines apply to all events held at the Chief Hosa Lodge, City Park Pavilion, Central
Park Pavilion, Fleming Mansion, Montclair Civic Building, and Washington Park Boathouse,
Hours of Operation
• There is a nine hour maximum for all rentals at the City Park Pavilion and the Washington Park
Boathouse.
• The Central Park Pavilion, Chief Hosa Lodge, Fleming Mansion, and Montclair Civic Building are
rented on an hourly basis and there is four hour rental minimum. All setup and cleanup (including
pickup and delivery of rental equipment) must be completed within the hours of the rental.
•
Per Denver City Ordinance, amplified music and alcoholic beverage service must end no later than
10 PM (9 PM at the Montclair Civic Building), and no less than one hour before the rental period
ends.
Cleaning and Damage
• Permit holders are responsible for all setup and cleanup needed for their events. Facilities must
be returned in the same condition they are rented. The Event Facilitator will perform an inspection
before and after each event to assess any damage or additional cleaning. Setup and cleanup time
must be included in the rental period.

No personal items, rental equipment, decorations, etc may be stored in the event venues
overnight or outside of the permitted rental times.
•
Do not drag heavy objects on the floor. Boxes, chests, musical and electronic equipment, cases,
podiums, kegs and furniture must be carried across the floor and placed gently.
•
All furniture, especially chairs and table legs must have intact rubber (or other soft, resilient
material) boots or tips.
•
Only dollies with rubber tires can be used. Metal wheels of any kind are prohibited.
Payment and Cancellation
• $210 -OR- 50% of fee if total fee is less than $210, is due and is nonrefundable

90 days before the event, 50% of total fee is due and is nonrefundable (events booked less than
90 days in advance will pay 50% of total fee within 24 hours of receiving confirmation of your
reservation and it is nonrefundable)
•
21 days before the event, the remaining balance is due and is nonrefundable
In the event of damage to the facility or equipment, events running past the permitted rental time, or the
necessity of additional cleaning after the permitted event time has ended, clients will be invoiced at the
following rates:
Overtime rental beyond permitted time (including for cleaning not completed by end of permitted rental
time): $200/hr, starting 15 minutes past end of permitted rental time. Minimum one hour.

Repair of damage to facility or equipment: $50/hr/person labor, plus parts and equipment as
applicable.
Replacement of equipment: Full value of replacement equipment
Power washing: Full cost of service, as provided by City-approved vendor
Alcoholic Beverage Service
• A trained professional bartender who is NOT a guest at the event is required for all events that are
to serve alcoholic beverages above 3.2% beer. Professional bartenders working independently of
caterers or licensed and insured bartending services are required to show proof of their training as
a professional bartender, along with a photo ID to the Event Facilitator on the day of the event
before any alcohol service will be permitted. Acceptable credentials are: TIPS card; ServeSafe
credential; or a certificate of completion from a bartending school.
•
Alcoholic beverages are to be served on an open-bar basis. Cash bars are not permitted. Please
note that this also includes tip jars.
•
Glass is not permitted in any Denver Park. Event Venues have been exempted from this
regulation, but no glass may be taken outside of the venues into the surrounding parks.
Additionally, alcoholic beverages may NOT be taken outside of the permitted structure under any
circumstances.
•
Mixed drinks/hard liquor are not permitted at the Washington Park Boathouse.
Food Service and Catering
• Due to safety and sanitation issues, food trucks and caterers may not park on the public plazas in
front of the City Park Pavilion and Washington Park Boathouse while events are in progress.
Vehicle access is permitted for loading and unloading during setup and cleanup times. A
cooking/prep area for grills, trailers, etc is provided adjacent to each venue.
•
Per Fire and Environmental Health regulations, no cooking or raw prep is allowed in the staging
kitchens at the Event Venues.
Decorations and Music
•
The following items are not allowed at any Event Venue: Balloons, Rice/Birdseed, Glitter and
Confetti.
•
No tape, nails, staples, tacks, etc may be used to affix anything to the walls of the Event Venues.
No items may be hung from the rafters or ceiling of any facility.
•
No open flame, other than chafing dishes and votive or tea light candles enclosed in glass
containers, is permitted inside any Event Venue. This includes grills, propane burners, etc.
•
Per Denver City Ordinance, sound from amplified music must not exceed 60 decibels at a distance
of 25 feet from the permitted structure.
Other Important Information
• A pre-event walk-through with an Event Facilitator is mandatory for all events.
•
Permit holders are responsible for the actions of their guests and vendors, including those
responsible for setup and cleanup.
•
it is the Renter’s responsibility to supply all equipment and supplies (tables, chairs, dishes,
silverware, coffee filters, ect.) that are to be used for the event except where noted on the
application.
•
Smoking is prohibited within any Event Venue.
•
The City Park Pavilion and Washington Park Boathouse are open-air facilities. Temporary
sidewalls are prohibited inside either venue. No refunds will be given for events cancelled due to
inclement weather. Permit holders are strongly encouraged to incorporate a contingency for
inclement weather into their plans, especially during the Spring and Fall seasons.
•
Portable heaters are prohibited at all Event Venues.
•
Any material changes to the rental agreement, including changes to the hours of the rental, usage
of tables/chairs/staging kitchen, etc must be received IN WRITING no less 21 days prior to the
event date.
