Summer Program in Agricultural Sciences
July 12 – August 11 2015. 70 Academic hours - 5 Credits
Visiting students are invited to study two advanced agricultural science courses taken together in
a special summer program at the Hebrew University’s Faculty of Agriculture, Food & Environment
at the Rehovot campus, organized by the Division for International Studies:
Principles of Plant Breeding
Genetic Engineering
The Division for International Studies draws students from around the world to its one-year
M.Sc. in Agriculture and M.Sc. In Nutrition programs: Plant Sciences, Environmental Quality,
Animal Sciences, Nutrition. Since 1997, 175 students from more 45 countries have participated.
While earning a fully-accredited Hebrew University non-thesis degree, participants have the
opportunity to meet new friends from different cultures and continents and to experience the
rich lifestyle and culture of Israel.
The Summer Program is taught by professional, experienced academic faculty. The teaching
method includes classroom instruction, hands-on practice and professional field trips to
relevant locations to observe practical applications.
Admission requirements are: a completed B.Sc. degree, or senior year, in agriculture, animal
sciences, plant sciences, natural sciences, biology, biotechnology or related fields from a
recognized university; basic or advanced courses in molecular biology, genetics or genetic
engineering; high level of English proficiency in all skills. Previous agricultural experience is
recommended but not mandatory.
Student housing is available at the Smith Faculty campus (or nearby) a peaceful enclave in the
heart of the centrally-located city of Rehovot. Just outside the main gate of the campus and
within easy reach are transportation services, shops, restaurants and pubs.
Extra-curricular activities included in the summer program are sightseeing tours and organized
social events.
Tuition and housing scholarships are available
for students from India and China.
