21st Century World Language and Culture Goal
The goal of the District 102 Elementary World Languages and Cultures
program is to promote communication, increase cultural and global
awareness, foster student connections and make comparisons to the students’
local and global communities.
This will be achieved through a rigorous curriculum that challenges and
motivates all students to engage in language learning, including integrating
technology to expand learning beyond the classroom and Project-Based Learning
(PBL) units for authentic and in-depth cultures study.
As a result of the District 102 K-8 World Languages and Cultures Program,
students will be able to communicate functionally in their language of choice and
demonstrate a clear understanding of multiple cultures and be prepared for
successful language study in high school.
