THE LOREM IPSUMS
Ten Summer Psalms
SUMMER 2016
Journal
Whether you’ve tried it before or are new to this
practice, simple prompts can motivate you to
think on paper.
Read the Psalm for the week and finish one of
these sentences:
• The verse that stands out to me is…
• I need (focus word) this week to help me
with…
• Here’s the verse I’ll be praying for (special
person)...
• God, my question for you today is…
Move
Create
If you think better on your feet, try one of
these activities:
Here’s your chance to try something new, either
alone, with your family, or with a friend.
• Listen to the Psalm being read
aloud while you exercise or do
chores
• Make a “photo journal” for the week.
Look for images that remind you of the
focus word.
• Create a “prayer path” around a
park or neighborhood where you
can walk and think about the
Psalm or focus word once a week or
once a day
• Draw in your Bible. Illustrate a Psalm by
drawing or painting around it.
• Create a simple series of movements to
help you remember a special verse.
• Find a song that reminds you of the
Psalm or focus word.
• Post the Psalm on a mirror and
read it as you get ready
• Interview someone and ask what the focus
word means to them.
• Try the ancient practice of writing
out Scripture. See how many times
you can copy the Psalm by hand
each week
Look for a Scripture “prayer” verse for yourself and each member of your
family. Use that as your focus for the coming school year.
