EFI delivers new innovations in Large-Format Inkjet With LED Imaging Fespa 2015
EFI introduces VUTEk HSr Printer
In keeping with Fespa
2015‘s theme Discover Your
Universe of Print, EFI (Nasdaq:EFII) is demonstrating a
broad portfolio of inkjet
and workflow products designed to provide digital
and screen printers the technology needed to expand
their market reach while
growing their bottom lines
(stand P10, Hall 6).
With more than 500 LED inkjet printers installed worldwide, EFI delivers
higher-quality, versatile imaging on
a broader range of substrates, with
virtually no VOC emissions and significantly reduced energy usage. EFI
customers are gaining a competitive
advantage from their ability to print
on thin, inexpensive films, corrugated board and other materials that
cannot withstand the heat associated with other drying or curing
methods.

EFI H1625 LED printer
UltraDrop Technology offers an additional competitive advantage with
the ability to print smaller drop sizes
with more precise control thanks to
its native 7pL printheads and true
multi-drop addressability in each dot
position. The results are outstanding smoothness in shadows, gradients and transitions, superb text
quality with four-point text in both
standard and knockout with fewer
satellites, and more clarity in all print
modes.
EFI is demonstrating the EFI H1625
LED printer, which gives printing
companies with mid-level production needs the same advantages as
higher production LED systems at a
significantly lower cost. Thanks to
the four color plus white inks that
come standard and eight-level variable drop grayscale capability, the
printer produces near-photographic
image quality, saturated colors and
smooth color gradations. The
easy-to-operate, low-maintenance
system prints on an extended range
of flexible and rigid substrates. Its
single-pass, multi-layer print capability allows printing companies to
offer premium-margin applications
with greater profit opportunity.
„In combination with the high resolution, the H1625 LED surpasses
screen printing in many respects.
When you tell customers you can
now print in 162 x 300 cm format at
a thickness of up to 5 cm, they just
can‘t get over it,“ said user Josef Rechberger, general manager of Druckerei Walding (Linz, Austria) regarding his talks with customers.
The VUTEk GS3250lx Pro LED printer
with UltraDrop Technology is also
on display. This high-productivity LED
printer allows users to produce more
jobs, and extend their applications
offering with more substrates and
lower operating costs. It offers rigid
and roll-fed printing capability, white
ink and single-pass multilayer printing.
„We opted for the new LED printer
because it was a press with the latest technology enabling us to create
the best-quality prints in the market
and thus increase our competitive
edge,“ said managing director André Stutz of richnerstutz ag, located
in Villmergen, Switzerland.

For him, the LED ink curing at full
speed is especially important. „We
can now print thinner plastic films,
the whole machine does not heat up
as much and the lamps save an enormous amount of energy.“
EFI is also showing the 5-meter
VUTEk GS5500lxr Pro printer with
new SuperRange Inks, which offer
the industry-leading 3M MCS Warranty when printing on 3M flexible
media. This high-performance rollfed printer delivers precise imaging
thanks to its innovative and ecofriendly LED curing and EFI‘s UltraDrop Technology. Co-branded EFI
and 3M SuperRange Inks, available
for VUTEk GSlxr series printers in sixcolor and eight-color plus white configurations, offer a hard surface
cure, a wide color gamut and excellent adhesion properties, making
them the ideal choice for a wide
range of materials and printing applications.
With the VUTEk HSr press, EFI is introducing a dedicated, production-class roll-to-roll printer, its fastest printer on the market. The new
VUTEk LED/UV Pin & Cure imaging
press is a 3.2 m high-speed roll-toroll printer that targets the replacement of older solvent printers for
the high-volume production of vehicle wraps, bus sides, banners, posters and more. It has six colors plus
white ink with multi-layer print capability for the production of perfect day/night backlit graphics. The
HSr press features EFI 3M SuperFlex
HSr Ink and backs graphics with the
3M MCS Warranty.
EFI‘s exhibit also includes the
award-winning 3.2-meter, hybrid EFI
VUTEk HS100 Pro press, a high-volume printer that uses a combination
LED/UV Pin & Cure imaging process
to provide exceptional quality and
high productivity. The press also features automated material loading
and unloading systems, along with
a material edge guide system for
printing corrugated board and other
challenging substrates at press-rated
speeds.
At Fespa, EFI is demonstrating VUTEk
GO, a remote monitoring application for the VUTEk HS Pro series that
allows customers to:
• Monitor print queue in real time
(what job is printing, how long left
in the print run, what job is next)
• Monitor real time status of ink levels, lamp settings and lamp life
• Review history of printer status and
print queue within last 24 hours
• Receive push notifications on
printer alerts or errors.
The 2-meter, hybrid EFI VUTEk H2000
Pro UV inkjet printer features UltraDrop Technology and gives users a
more-affordable entry point into
mid-volume, premium production
printing while giving them the option to add features - including white
ink, clear varnish and roll-to-roll media handling - as they grow their
business.
Matan Placed 4 new
printers at Yahav Digital
Printing
Yahav Digital Printing, leading Israeli
super-wide format print provider, recently purchased 4 new printers by
Matan Digital Printers. The newly
acquired printers include three 5-meter industrial UV printers and a 3.5
meter Quantum High Definition
quality printer, especially designed
for close-view indoor applications.
The Quantum also features an innovative Inline Protective Coating, that
is applied to the output simultaneously, with the printing.
“We are very pleased about our 4
newly purchased printers” said Mr.
Zevik, CEO of Yahav. “We have always had excellent experience with
Matan’s printers and when it came
to purchasing new equipment, we
did not have a single doubt as to
where they would come from”.
added Zevik. “Matan know how to
make excellent printers, at the forefront of today’s print technology,
with the best ratio in the industry
between print quality, speed and
cost. And no less importantly, their
technical support is exceptional.”
The Quantum hybrid UV printer will
be exhibited for the first time in Europe at FESPA 2015. This printer was
developed specifically for top quality close-view indoor applications. It
uses tiny 7pL drops, at a 1200 dpi
resolution, with excellent transitions,
2
vignettes, skin tones and shadows,
as well as precise and sharp 4 point
size text. “We chose the Quantum
in order to expand our offering for
high-quality POP graphics, as well as
other high durability applications,
such as vehicle graphics.”concluded
Zevik.
Heidelberg unveils “digital differentiator” at
open house on 17 June
D2D or Dedicated To Digital is the
theme of Heidelberg’s specialist open
house that takes place at its National
Showroom in Brentford from 10am
to 4pm on Wednesday 17 June. Heidelberg will launch its Digital Front
End (DFE). Drawing on 25 years of
workflow experience Heidelberg has
designed this simple and effective
interface to the new Linoprint digital press products. The DFE accurately
controls print quality, colour and ensures consistent output performance.
Anyone interested in digital printing solutions is welcome to attend
and they can book at http://www.
heievents.co.uk
“Our dedicated Heidelberg Digital
Front End will be a key differentiator in the market. The renderer mirrors the dots laid down on a plate
for litho applications which means
the colour and quality match will be
first rate,” says Jim Todd, sales director.
“Prepress and digital workflows will
be brought together into one common interface. Heidelberg will link
the Linoprint CV and CP devices to
a Management Information System
(Tharstern) and Web2Print solution
(ROI 360). The Heidelberg Prinect
workflow will calculate the appropriate level of automation based on
the value of order, customer relationship and quality of the supplied
artwork. This combined and integrated Front End reduces errors, improves results, brings a noticeably
faster job flow and builds in business
sense and transparency to the digital process.”
Heidelberg has already launched the
Linoprint CP and CV models with
great success and several of the new
models have been delivered. De-
prepress - world of print EXPRESS
mand for demonstrations is running
high, so Heidelberg was clear that a
digital printing open house would
be fully justified.
The Linoprint CP (CP stands for Commercial Performance) and Linoprint
CV (Commercial Value) supersede
the C901 and C 751 models. The
presses offer speed and versatility,
the ability to handle a range of stocks
and a diversity of formats including
a six page A4 or A4 landscape as well
as offering the option to add an
opaque white, clear or spot varnish
coating. The first company to purchase the Linoprint CP was Pensord
Press and the first with the Linoprint
CV was Diguru.
Three jobs will be produced during
the two key demonstrations (scheduled for 11am and 2.30pm): a simple
two page leaflet; a complex hybrid
job with a digital cover and litho text;
and a “bomb”, the term for orders
which combine print and other products such as a box of golf balls.
Heidelberg experts led by Chris Matthews (digital business manager) and
John Murphy (Prinect products specialist) will be on hand to discuss general or specific enquires.
Partners joining the D2D open
house in June are ROI 360 (web to
print), Tharstern (MIS), Polar (cutting solutions), Morgana (finishing)
and the Magic Touch (combining
print and other products to add
sales value). Lunch will be available
as well as light refreshments during
the day.
The Liquorice Press invest
in leading MIS from Shuttleworth
The Liquorice Press is delighted to
announce its recent investment in a
full Management Information System (MIS), from the UK’s most respected MIS provider Shuttleworth
Business Systems. The Liquorice Press
produces unique high quality design
and print solutions and consider
themselves a new generation of
printers that have old school passion
for the trade. They specialise in Letterpress, laser cutting, duplexing,
foiling and litho & digital techniques. Robin Escott, Managing Director of The Liquorice Press said:
“At Liquorice we identified the need
to have an MIS system that has the
flexibility to grow with our business
because of the bespoke nature of
our work, and in order for us to
maintain current rates of growth.
Shuttleworth’s really took the time
to understand every aspect of our
business, as well as our future goals
and aspirations. Coupled to this partnership approach is the fact that,
Shuttleworth’s MIS will enable us to
make efficiency savings with our
workflow. Of course, changing an
MIS system is never going to be an
easy process, especially with the investment required in time, but we
are confident the benefits MIS will
give us, to better manage the business, will be worth this vital investment.”
Bryan Aplin, Business Development
Manager at Shuttleworth Business
Systems, commented, “We are delighted that Liquorice has chosen
Shuttleworth as its MIS supplier. We
are helping them improve their business by providing an MIS that will
evolve and grow to meet their strategic business objectives and give
them vital improvements to production efficiencies and communication.”
