2015 CAMS TASMANIAN DRIFT SERIES REGULATIONS
These regulations have been prepared by Drifting Tasmania on behalf of the Hobart Sporting Car Club.
The State Executive of CAMS has endorsed these regulations, which will be applied to the 2015 CAMS Tasmanian
Drift Series.
1. AUTHORITY
All competition in the 2015 CAMS Tasmanian Drift Series (the Series), will be conducted under the General Provisions of
the International Sporting Code of the FIA, the National Competition Rules of CAMS, the CAMS Standing Regulations for
Drifting as per the current CAMS manual*, these regulations, the particular round’s approved Supplementary Regulations
and further Bulletins relating to the Series that may be issued by CAMS from time to time.
*Details of all references to the current CAMS manual will be found at www.camsmanual.com.au
2. SCOPE
These regulations will apply to the 2015 CAMS Tasmanian Drift Series to be conducted at both Symmons Plains and
Baskerville circuits by the Hobart Sporting Car Club. Dates of the rounds of the series are:

SERIES NAME
The Series will be known as The Kumho Tyre 2015 Tasmanian Drift Series and by agreement with the organising clubs
will carry the series sponsors name and logo. Individual rounds of the Series may also carry the name and/ or logos of
any round sponsors for the organising club.
4.
SERIES STICKERS
Series stickers, if issued, will be compulsory for all competitors, and will be issued to competitors at sign in. Each
competitor will place the series sponsor stickers on their vehicles prior to scrutiny. Stickers must remain on vehicles for
the complete 2015 competitive season. If stickers are removed, they can be replaced for a fee. Road registered vehicles
that are used other than to drive to and from a drift event, must remove stickers after each event and replaced at the next
meeting.
5.
COMPETITOR ELIGIBILITY
All competitors must be a current member of a CAMS affiliated car club and hold a minimum L2S CAMS competition
licence. New Competitors must purchase a L2S licence either via CAMS or these can be purchased on event days. The
secretary of the event will determine competitor eligibility.

6.
PARENTAL CONSENT
The signed consent of the parent or guardian of any competitor under the age of 18 years must appear on the official
entry form.
7.
VEHICLE ELIGIBILTY
All Drifting Tasmania Events are open class events and are open to any vehicle that passes scrutiny. In all cases
competition vehicles must comply with these Regulations, and must pass scrutiny prior to commencement of the event.
The only fuels permitted in drifting competition are commercial fuels in accordance with Schedule G - Fuel of the
current CAMS Manual. The use of leaded fuel (Avgas) or additives other than those permitted in Schedule G is prohibited.
All in car cameras and fitment is to comply with Schedule A - General Requirements of Automobiles in any
Competition.
8.
APPAREL
a) It is compulsory in all drifting events that competitors wear clothing and helmets of a standard approved by CAMS. See
Schedule D – Apparel of the current CAMS Manual of Motor Sport, or current Competitor Handbook. In drifting events,
apparel must be to the same standard as required for Speed Events as specified in Schedule D.
b) A helmet that complies with AS 1698 and carries a marking to that effect or be otherwise specifically approved by
CAMS.
c) Clothing for competitors must cover from ankles to neck to wrists. Clothing and footwear of flammable synthetic
material such as nylon is not acceptable. No person shall compete wearing nylon or similar apparel.
d) Suitable footwear with full leather uppers is mandatory. Thongs, high heel shoes, roman sandals and the like are
prohibited.
e) Goggles or lens other than glass (to AS 1609) must be worn in open cars where the competitor is not wearing a fullface helmet.
f) Competitors shall continue to comply with these requirements until such time as they leave their automobiles.
9.
SCRUTINY
a) All competition cars must pass scrutiny prior to participating in practice or competition. When cars are presented for
scrutiny they must be "competition ready", with all loose objects removed and helmets in the car. Cars not "competition
ready" will not be scrutineered.
b) All cars must comply with Schedule A, and articles 1, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15 & 17 of Schedule B of the General
Requirements Section of the current CAMS Manual.
 No holes in front or rear bulkheads (boot space and engine bay sealed from passenger compartment at
scrutineers discretion).
 Holes in bonnets must have the underside covered by steel mesh, with holes no larger than 9mm.
 A secondary bonnet restraint must be fitted to unregistered vehicles. Road registered series production vehicles
fitted with an unmodified original equipment 2 stage bonnet fastening system shall be exempt from separate
bonnet fasteners, although a secondary restraint is still highly recommended.
 Bonnets must not protrude above the top of the front quarter panels when closed (no bonnet ‘jacking’).
 Open top cars must be fitted with CAMS approved rollover protection.
 Cameras are not permitted unless fixed by a lanyard to a secondary anchor point to with stand a force of 25g.
Cameras when suspended only by their secondary restraint should not hit the ground, vehicles wheels, vehicles
controls or the driver. A scrutineer must approve all camera fitments.
 Seat belts to AS E35 or of a type specifically approved by CAMS.
 A securely located fire extinguisher, which complies with AS 1841 maintained according to the prescriptions of
AS 1851. Mounted with a metal bracket that is securely attached to the car with bolts, not screws and within
reach of the driver.
 If fitted, catch cans must be a minimum of 1 litre per litre of engine. (Capped at 3 litres).
 A blue triangle (150mm sides) indicating location of the battery.
 The only fuels permitted in drifting competition are commercial fuels in accordance with Schedule G of the 2012
CAMS Manual. The use of leaded fuel (Avgas) or additives other than those permitted in Schedule G is prohibited.
 Roll bar/cage is recommended for all events, but not compulsory unless taking passengers.
 Glass headlights must be covered completely with adhesive to prevent the dispersion of glass fragments in the
event of breakage. Colourless is preferred, but any colour other than red is acceptable.

ROLL OVER PROTECTION STRUCTURE FOR PASSENGERS IN VEHICLES
Cars with passengers participating in practice sessions must have CAMS approved rollover cage fitted, and identical seats
and seat belts. The car and competitor must be entered to compete at the event. The competitor must hold a CAMS
licence and the car must have passed scrutiny. Passengers shall be attired as per the minimum requirements for a
competitor (refer article 8 of these regulations) and sign an indemnity prior to being allowed on the circuit. Personal
Accident Insurance shall not apply to passengers. Passengers are not permitted in vehicles during competition sessions.
As a minimum requirement for passengers in vehicles, all rollover protection must be cams approved. Vehicles must have
the main hoop supported by double diagonals and sufficient side intrusion members fitted. If the rollover protection is
not log booked by cams, the scrutineer has the power to deem the vehicle unsuitable for passengers. If fitted, rollover
protection must be covered with roll cage padding in accordance with schedule J.
The following two examples can be considered, all from current Schedule J:

11.
WHEELS AND TYRES – THIS SECTION APPLIES TO COMPETITIVE SESSIONS ONLY
a) Wheel size is open but not must protrude beyond the bodywork far enough to become dangerous to other competitors.
b) Rear tyres are restricted to a limited number of manufacturers approved by Drifting Tasmania. The approval will be
based upon retail cost versus grip. Competitors will be provided with a list of approved tyres upon registering for an
event. (see Appendix B). Please refer to supplementary regulations before each round for updates of approved tyres.
Drifting Tasmania, nor any tyre manufacturers or suppliers associated with the series, will not be held responsible for
liable for competitors not understanding tyre eligibility or not reading the approved tyres list. If you wish to run tyres
that are not on the approved list please contact Drifting Tasmania at least one week prior to the event to suggest the
tyres and await a decision from Drifting Tasmania as to their suitability for use.
c) Tyres must be commercially available in Australia
d) Vehicles with a common manual variant weight under 1100kg and under are limited to a maximum tyre width of
195mm.
e) Vehicles with a common manual variant weight between 1100kg and 1350kg are limited to a maximum tyre width of
235mm.
f) Vehicles with a common manual variant weight between 1350kg and 1600kg are limited to a maximum tyre width of
245mm.
g) Vehicles with a common manual variant weight over 1700kg are limited to a maximum tyre width of 265mm.
h) Event staff reserve the right to conduct spot inspections of tyre sizes and eligibility. Cars found in contradiction to the
rules are instantly disqualified from the event and in eligible for any points or winnings.
i) Event staff reserve the right to determine the factory weight of a vehicle under contestation
j) Re-treaded tyres are not permitted
k) Removal of tread is not permitted
l) Additives to a tyre is not permitted

FLAG MARSHALLING

The following flags will be used during all 2015 events:
Yellow Flag: This will be used to warn of a problem ahead. Stop drifting & slow down.
Red Flag: This indicates a severe problem ahead and the competitor must prepare to stop immediately. The event has
been stopped.
White Flag: Tow vehicle on the track returning to the pits.
13.
DRIFT COURSES
a) Each drift course shall consist of:
 a marked marshalling/start area,
 a marked competition area and;
 a marked ‘slow down’ area of approximately 100 metres
b) Baskerville Raceway: The drifting section of the course starts halfway through the turn six sweeper, through to the exit
of turn three approximately 100 metres up the hill in a counter-clockwise direction. Practice days may utilise additional
sections of the track.
c) Symmons Plains Raceway: The drifting section of the course starts on the back straight prior to turn six and pit entry
before turn seven, through to adjacent with turn three overpass in a counter clockwise direction. This course may utilise
the motorcycle section of the circuit. Practice days and Matsuri style practice days may utilise additional sections of the
track.
d) A full description of the course layout, clipping points and judging requirements will be published prior to each
competition round, outlined by the judges at driver briefing, and clearly marked.
14.
BRIEFINGS
a) All competitors and officials must be briefed prior to any track practice or competition
b) In addition to appropriate OH&S matters, a driver’s briefing will include information that the organisers believe is
necessary to explain or reinforce to competitors.
c) In addition to appropriate OH&S matters, officials will also be briefed as to their specific roles. This may be done on a
‘one-on-one’ basis or in a group briefing. All officials must sign the appropriate disclaimer.
15.
CODE OF CONDUCT
a) Directions from officials must be obeyed. All competitors s are required to behave in a safe and responsible manner at
all times.
b) A speed limit of 10 km/h shall apply in the pit and paddock area. Failure by any competitor to respect this limit may
lead to exclusion from the competition. The imposition of this penalty shall be at the discretion of the Clerk of the Course.
c) There are no drifting zones at each track on competition days. A speed limit of 80 km/h and ‘no drifting; requirement
shall apply to all sections of the track from the marked end of the ‘slow down’ area at the end of the competition course to
the marshalling / start area. Notwithstanding the prescribed maximum speed, competitors must at all times be prepared
to stop or take evasive action. *See supplementary regulations for drifting zones and speed limits for Matsuri practice
days.
d) All competitors must attend all notified drivers briefings and site induction at each event. In addition to appropriate
OH&S matters, a driver’s briefing will include information that the organisers believe is necessary to explain or reinforce
to competitors.
e) Failure to attend compulsory driver’s briefings/ site induction may result in fine as per the CAMS Manual NCR’s and/
or exclusion from the event or other disciplinary action at the discretion of the CAMS Stewards of the event.
g) Intentionally placing the wheels of the car outside the sealed competition surface delineated by a white perimeter line
will not be tolerated and may incur penalty and/ or exclusion from the event. See judging regulations (appendix A) and
disciplinary procedure (article 30 of these regulations) for further information.
h) Burnouts are prohibited unless express permission has been granted by the Clerk of Course.
16.
UNSPORTING BEHAVIOUR
Competitors demonstrating behaviour that, in the opinion of the Clerk of the Course, provides them with an undue
competitive advantage may be penalised or disqualified from the competition and or the series. This applies whether the
advantage is as a result of deliberate actions on the part of the competitor, or simply an incident or circumstances that
might unjustly influence the results.
17.
ANTI DOPING POLICY
During any CAMS event, consumption of alcoholic beverages in the paddock, pits or any other portion of the competition
venue under the control of the officials is expressly forbidden until the competition activity is concluded. Any competitor
or crewmember who is found consuming or to be affected by alcohol on the day of the event or practice shall not be
permitted to participate. Refer NCR 145A of the Current CAMS Manual. In addition, the persons concerned will be subject
to the Articles of the Procedure for Alcohol Testing and CAMS Drugs in Sport Policy. Competitors, crews or officials may
be tested for alcohol or other drugs by a CAMS Accredited Testing Official (CATO) at any time during the event(s). This
regulation serves as the required 24-hour notice to competitors, crew and officials. Note: The Clerk of Course is deemed

judge of fact and their decision is final. The CAMS Anti Doping Policy, as appears in the CAMS Manual of Motor Sport and
as amended from time to time, is recognised as an integral component of the NCR and is duly authorised as such. In any
areas where the National Competition Rules and the CAMS Anti Doping Policy conflict, the CAMS Anti Doping Policy will
take precedence.
18.
PRACTICE & QUALIFYING
a) There will be a 90-minute practice session and 90-minute qualifying session for all competitors.
b) Competitors may only qualify during the nominated period, being one 90-minute session only. It is the competitor’s
responsibility to qualify within the nominated time period. Time extensions will not be granted.
c) Drivers will be required to perform 2 qualifying runs ONLY in the nominated period. If a driver fails to complete a
qualifying run, he/she may not qualify and therefore not progress through to the tandem elimination rounds. Each
competitor’s best qualifying score will count as their score.
d) The length of practice/qualifying periods may be changed subsequent to the release of the Supplementary
Regulations, or during the meeting at the discretion of the CAMS Stewards.
e) In the event of a vehicle break down, a competitor may opt to change vehicle. Providing; the replacement car has
passed scrutiny and the competitor is able to qualify in this vehicle.
f) During practice, there are no solo runs. If you wish to complete a solo run, line up in the chase lane and leave a space
between your vehicle and the lead vehicle.
19.
COMPETITION FORMAT
a) The 16 drifters with the highest scores from qualifying will be eligible to enter the tandem elimination rounds.
Progressive battles will follow the format of the positions table (‘Drift Tree’) resulting in a winner. In the event that there
are less than 16 qualifiers, the affected competitors will receive a bye run through to the next round. See Drifting
Tasmania Judging Regulations document (appendix A) for full qualifying procedure.
b) The bottom 8 competitors, i.e. the 17th – 24th qualifiers will be placed into a ‘Best of the Rest’ battle tree, and will
compete in a separate competition, resulting in 1 winner. These competitors will also receive competition points and
their qualifying points toward their series points. There must be a minimum of 8 competitors to run the Best of the Rest
competition. In the event that there are less than 8 competitors available, the Best of the Rest Competition will be
cancelled.
c) Each competitor will be permitted two qualifying laps of the drift course and will be judged on speed, line, angle and
style. The highest scored competitor run will be selected to determine their qualifying position at the completion of the
session.
d) Each competitor will be permitted one warm up lap as their out lap prior to each battle.
e) Competitors may borrow a car or change cars in the event that their vehicle is unable to continue competition.
Competitors will be given a reasonable amount of time to notify event organisers that they need to change vehicles. The
alternate vehicle must be scrutineered and competition ready prior to commencement of the battles.
f) In the event that two competitors are sharing a vehicle and they are to battle each other, and they cannot provide an
alternate scrutineered competition ready vehicle in a reasonable amount of time, one competitor must forfeit. The
competitors will decide their course of action and report the nominated competitor to the Clerk of the Course prior to the
session start.
g) In the event that a competitor withdraws from the Top 16 or Best of the Rest competition, and cannot find an alternate
vehicle in a reasonable amount of time, the battle trees will be re-shuffled. Points will be allocated in accordance with the
original qualifying positions.
20.
START PROCEDURE – DRIFT QUALIFYING & BATTLES
a) Competitors take position in pit lane. They are released two at a time for one warm up lap. Competitors then take
position at the official start line, designated by orange cones & officials midway through the sweeper or on the front
straight (applies at Symmons and Baskerville).
b) Competitors give confirmation via a nod or thumbs up to officials and are released. During qualifying, competitors will
take a single run.
c) The highest qualifier leads the first battle. A direction board will be placed at the start line to mark the lead and chase
lanes.
d) A pace zone may be placed in the starting region to keep the tandem battles fair and close together. The use of a pace
zone will be specified during driver briefing.
21.
TYRE & MECHANICAL REPAIR PERIODS
a) Should a competitor require mechanical repairs/tyre replacement(s) on their vehicle a time of five minutes for
repairs/replacements is permitted.
b) Competitors MUST notify start line officials that they wish to commence their 5-minute repair period. The start line
official will report to the Clerk of the Course that the competitor is returning to their pit bay or hot pit zone.
c) The five-minute period commences upon the vehicle needing repairs becoming stationary in their pit bay or pit lane.
The period concludes when the vehicle requiring repairs/replacements is moving toward pit exit under its own steam.

d) Both vehicles are to enter the pit area or pit lane and at the completion of the repairs/replacements, both are
permitted one warm up lap as their out lap.
f) Permission to change tyres between re-runs will be at the discretion of the Clerk of the Course. When entering the
course for battle competitors must have sufficient tyres to complete 1 battle (i.e. 2 runs).
g) Drivers may elect to swap cars if their car is unable to continue but this will be at the discretion of the Clerk of Course
and must be a scrutineered vehicle.
22.
POINTS AWARDED
Points will be awarded for all nominated rounds of the 2015 CAMS Tasmanian Drift Series and competitors are not
required to register to receive series points. Points are not to be backdated and all rounds are accumulated for the final
series results. In the event that there are less than 16 qualifiers available to hold a Top 16 Competition, the affected
competitors will receive a bye run through to the next round. The below points table will still apply. The points table for

23.
JUDGING
The judge’s decision will be final. Should there be any dispute between judges; the Chief Judge’s decision will determine
the outcome of the dispute. Competitors and team members may not enter judging areas or speak to judges during
competition periods. It is the competitors’ responsibility to understand the judging and the point scoring criteria.
Competitors wishing to lodge a protest or dispute should contact the Clerk of the Course immediately following the
incident for review. Full detail on judging can be found in the Drifting Tasmania Judging Regulations document.
24.
BEST OF THE REST COMPETITION
The bottom 8 competitors, i.e. the 17th – 24th qualifiers, will be placed into a ‘Best of the Rest’ battle tree, and will compete
in a separate competition, resulting in a winner. These competitors will receive competition points and their qualifying
points toward their series points per the table in article 22.
25.
DISPLAYS & SUPPLEMENTARY COMPETITIONS
The Promoter may hold various displays/supplementary competitions during the event. Competitors entered in the
event may participate in these displays/ supplementary competitions. The promoter has the final say as to which
vehicles/competitors are eligible to participate. The displays are not competitive and points/times/scores will not be
officially recorded. A trophy or prize may be presented for supplementary competitions at the presentation ceremony in
accordance with the rounds approved Supplementary Regulations.
27.
AWARDS
The major award and/ or prize monies (if available) for the series or event winner and or placegetters will be presented
at track in the presentation ceremony after competition has concluded, or any other function or venue that Drifting
Tasmania may decide. In the case of a tie in points, then a count back will be applied as per Clause 5 of the General
Conditions for all Titles (Section 2, current CAMS manual). Separate awards for each round may be presented by the
round Promoter in accordance with the round’s approved Supplementary Regulations.
28.
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AWARD

The Rookie of the Year Award will be awarded to the highest point-scoring competitor at the completion of one
competition season. Eligible competitors must be in their debut season, i.e. have not entered a state or national drift
competition event in any previous year in Tasmania or any other state of Australia or country outside Australia. Practice
days not included.
29.
DISPUTE RESOLUTION
Should an instance arise in which there is a dispute concerning the interpretation of results, or awarding of points for any
competition in the series, then, in the first instant the matter should be referred to the CAMS State Office for resolution
and ultimate endorsement by the Sport and Cub Development Council of CAMS. That endorsement will be binding on all
parties. Any other disputes should be referred to the CAMS judicial processes.
30.
DICIPLINARY PROCEDURE
Should a competitor be in breach of any of the rules outlined in this document, the supplementary regulations for each
event, any additional instructions outlined in driver briefing or, inadvertently or knowingly puts at risk; another
competitor, official, pit crew or spectator, the penalties will be, but not limited to, depending on the severity or
seriousness of the offence:

points acquired on the day are forfeit.
Notwithstanding any penalty prescribed by these regulations and as per the National Drifting Regulations the organisers
reserve the right to refer any serious incident / misdemeanour to a formal CAMS Stewards Inquiry for formal
determination.
31.
MISCONDUCT OFF TRACK
Any competitor deemed by the committee to be driving inappropriately on public roads may be reported to police. Drifting
Tasmania and the Hobart Sporting Car Club committee may be obligated to provide police personal information about
individual competitors. Inappropriate behaviour may include breaking the law in a competition vehicle or other vehicle in
accordance with the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999. Publishing of inappropriate behaviour on social media may also be
considered misconduct and individuals may face exclusion periods and or loss of points or awards as determined and
enforced by the club. Refer to the cams social media policy for further information on appropriate conduct.
32.
PENALTIES APPLIED
Should a competitor be excluded from the results of competition in the series by CAMS’ judicial process, then any points
awarded to that competitor for that event will be forfeited and other competitor’s points adjusted accordingly.
33.
PROTESTS
Protests must be lodged in accordance with Part XII of the NCR.
34.
INSURANCE
Public Risk insurance will be effected by the Promoter at all 2015 CAMS Tasmanian Drift Series events, and all
competitors and officials will be covered by CAMS’ personal accident insurance policy. Further details can be found in
Appendix I of the CAMS Manual of Motor Sport.
35.
ABANDONMENT
Any 2015 CAMS Tasmanian Drift Series event may be altered, postponed or abandoned in accordance with NCR 59.
