Kids Camp
Leader
Emily Popoff
Each week has a theme with activities built around the
theme. Our leaders are local students who have First Aid
qualifications and have diverse backgrounds in both the
arts and in sports. They are young adults who love
children and come back consecutive years because
they too have built connections with the kids they lead.
How it works... You can register by the day or for the whole
week. (This day camp is at Rotary Park with the Memorial
Arena available in case of bad weather.)
Pre and post care is available to weekly campers and
please note late fees apply. Ages 5-12 years. Children will
need a healthy lunch, snacks and a water bottle.

Cheryl King
Cheryl is a Cranbrook resident and
business owner since 1982. She
is now a practicing practitioner
for dog rehabilitation through the Tellington Touch
Method. In 2013 she also completed the Training
Cesar’s Way fundamentals program in California.
Her goal for the community is to show a mindful,
respectful way to communicate with our pets. Our
connection with the dog needs to be fulfilling and
safe for both dogs and handlers. Cheryl is set on
lessening the number of dogs returned to rescues
because of lack of knowledge from well meaning
owners.

Guitar Lessons!
‘Learn to Play the Guitar in 8 sessions’
Is it time to break out your acoustic guitar from the
closet and commit to finally learning how to play
it? This group setting is led by Bill Brewer, a music
lover who wants to share his passion for guitar.
By the end of this program participants should be
able to play the harmony part of a simple 3 chord
song. Participants will need to bring a 6 string
acoustic guitar - an electronic tuner and capo are
recommended. Location: Laurie School band
room. Ages 16 years +.
Tuesdays and Thursdays • 7:00-9:00 pm

Course #22366

Guitar
Instructor
Bill Brewer
Bill is passionate about
playing the acoustic guitar
and singing. He brings
decades of experience to teaching new players, and says he
especially loves the enthusiasm of beginners.
Before retiring in 2013 Bill had been hoping to have an
opportunity to teach new players – now it is your turn to join
him in the pleasures of learning to play and make music.
Bill recently moved to Cranbrook after retirement and is
enjoying getting to know the city better.
“I have always wanted to learn to play guitar
but just didn’t know where to start and
one on one lessons can get expensive and a bit intimidating. After only a few sessions, I felt comfortable
enough to practice different chords on my own and knew I could learn to play as long as I kept up with the
practicing. We learned so much for so little cost! I highly recommend Bill as he is a great teacher and knows
his stuff and how to relay it in a way any beginner can understand!!”

Cranbrook Farmer`s Market
Growing again in 2015!
As the Cranbrook Farmer’s Market enters its seventh year
of operation, the market season is growing! Due to the
tremendous support from both vendors and market patrons
alike, we have added another whole season of ‘locally
made, baked and grown’ for 2015.
In addition to our outdoor markets that are held every
Saturday from the end of June until Thanksgiving, we have
added a season of Indoor/Spring Markets on the 2nd and 4th
Saturdays of the months from January to June. The idea
for these indoor markets has been germinating for quite a
while as a way to continue the markets that our patrons love
on a more regular basis, while giving local area producers
another opportunity to connect with their customers.
The first of these markets have gone very well, and the
Ktunaxa Gym is proving to be a great central location.
Market shoppers can find everything from freshly harvested
microgreens to frozen berries and beef, eggs, sourdough
breads and baked goods, to body care products, wood carvings, jewelry and hand knit/ sewn clothing items. As these
indoor markets become more established, local area growers can plan to have more available in future years, as they
come up with creative ideas to either extend their growing
seasons, find ways to cold store their produce, or turn them
into ‘value added’ products ready for sale in the ‘off season’.
Thank you to all of the market patrons who help the Cranbrook Farmer’s Market continue to grow. And for those of
you who haven’t come down to see what the market is all
about, make a plan one Saturday soon!
Mark it on your calendar!

incorporate cardiovascular and muscle conditioning
exercises. This is a challenging workout for both skilled

Shallow/Transitional Aquafit
Shallow water aquafit has the benefit of providing excellent
cardio, strength and flexibility training. The option to work at
a transitional depth (neck deep with or without a buoyancy
belt), provides participants who experience lower body joint
issues to participate and improve in all weight bearing
activities. Suitable for everyone.
