The main active ingredient is ‘Gold of Pleasure Oil’ – the Camelina Sativa oil produced by Statfold is grown on our farm and the seeds cold pressed & filtered to produce a beautiful golden oil. It has a high EFA content which have a clear effect on the skin as well as acting as an ‘anti aging’ agent by enhancing the barrier function of the epidermis, reducing the trans‐epidermal water loss and improving elasticity of the skin. Requires the simple addition of essential oils for fragrance and can readily be thickened by salt. INCI LIST Aqua, Ammonium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl betaine, Cocamide DEA, Camelina Sativa Seed Oil, Glycerin, Anthemis nobilis Flower Oil, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Tocopherol, Sodium Chloride, Citric Acid, Alcohol denat.  Chamomile Extract – Generally soothing, relaxing & hydrating. One of its major components for anti‐inflammatory purposes is α‐bisabolol which is substansive to skin (basically it sticks around after washing). α‐bisabolol can penetrate our skin to promote production in the granular tissue under the stratum corneum which will improve our skin’s texture and elasticity as well as helping with UV damage.  Pomegranate Extract ‐ skin nourishing & revitalising it improves the elasticity of the skin, and is excellent for eczema, psoriasis & mature, sunburned or aging skin.. Product Characteristics Blended with mild surfactants, to provide a creamy lather. Anti Aging properties. Anti‐microbial properties Skin softening properties. Processing Instructions
Like all water based personal care products our clear shower gel base is susceptible to microbial contamination. Good hygiene and manufacturing practices must be carried out when using this product at all times. CONVERTING CLEAR SHOWER GEL BASE INTO THICKENED FINISHED PRODUCT 1. Make up a 20% salt solution in warm deionised or softened water: • Warm the deionised or softened water. • Turn agitator on. • Add salt. • Stir until salt is fully dissolved and you have a clear solution. Please note ‐ If you do not use deionised or softened water (i.e. tap water) then the shower gel base will turn cloudy. 2. Add the clear shower gel base to a sterilised vessel with a suitable stirrer (preferably with variable speed), lid and heater. To speed up the time it takes to dissolve the essential oils, pre‐warm the shower gel base to 30 ‐ 35°C. 3. With the stirrer on, add the essential oils or fragrance as required (typically add 0.5 – 1.0%). 4. Stir for 10 – 15 minutes or until the essential oils are fully dispersed and in some cases fully dissolved. Please note: Some additives, such as certain essential oils, can turn the product very cloudy. If this is the case it is advised to reduce the inclusion level and if this does not solve the clarity issue, you should pre mix the oil with a solubiliser before adding to the shower gel base. 5. Pre‐warming to 30 ‐ 35°C will aid stirring and make the salt solution disperse more quickly, so with stirrer on slow add the 20% salt solution to the vortex created by the stirrer. Mix until homogeneous and thickened. 6. Check viscosity against the desired specification 7. Add extra salt solution if required. Further adjustments should be made in increments of around 0.2 ‐ 0.4% of 20% salt solution. Please note ‐ Laboratory trials should first be carried out to determine how much salt solution is required. As a ballpark guideline, typically 5 – 10 % of a 20% salt solution should thicken the product to around 5,000 – 20,000 cps Brookfield Viscometer, spindle 3 @ 6 rpm @ 25°C. FILLING OF THICKENED CLEAR SHOWER GEL • Before filling the processed thickened clear shower gel, it is advisable that it should pass microbiological testing. • The viscosity of a salt thickened shower gel is greatly affected by temperature. The colder it is the thicker it becomes. The filling temperature should be considered, and typically would be around 15 –30°C. • The filled product should pass microbiological testing. Please note: Like all personal care products, your formulations should first pass stability testing and microbial preservative challenge testing before you manufacture them. A safety assessment & Product Information File should also be compiled as it is the marketer’s responsibility to have this on file. Data Sheet – August 2011
