County Religious Education Centre

materials, artefacts and topic boxes to enhance your RE. Each topic box is accompanied with
planning advice to ensure you make the most of these indispensable resources.

A new Cuisenaire/Dienes number line
A structured number line for use with resources such as
Dienes and Cuisenaire. Demarcated into blue/white blocks of
ten. Also numbered 1-100 where the units are 1cm. Ten blocks
correspond to the tens stick of Dienes and the orange stick of
Cuisenaire. A strong visual image – used alongside structured
resources helps to develop conceptual understanding of place
value, addition and subtraction of tens and units and grouping
for multiplication and division. It lays the foundations for more
formal recording. 85mm x 1.03mtrs long.

History Curriculum Centre
Key Stage 1
We now have a new Key Stage 1 enquiry pack and artefact collection both
entitled Queens: Lives and Times.These compare the reigns of Elizabeth I,
Victoria and Elizabeth II and life at the time they lived and reigned to help
schools fulfil the requirement to study aspects of life in the past via studies of
famous and significant individuals.
For the summer term we will have a new within living memory artefact collection
on Leisure and holidays. Some of the contents are
pictured here.
Key Stage 2
Our Six Step Enquiry A beacon of light in the dark ages: The early Islamic
civilization has just been released and is now available for purchase.
Mayan resources:As well as our recent Getting to Grips
with the Maya CD, we are now loaning a new mixed
resources collection to support studies of the Mayan
civilization. This includes artefacts, books
and a few paper resources. The objects
pictured here are from the collection.

RADE Centre
The Rights and Diversity Education Centre (RADE) provides
resource enrichment and curriculum advice across the SMSC
and Rights of the Child agendas. RADE offers:
 training and advice on good practice
 curriculum planning tailored to the needs of your school

Payment process under the Integrated Business Centre (IBC)
Once you have completed the relevant online order form(see below) for your resources, your finance officer
will need to complete an IBC internal customer request to initiate payment. There are instructions on the IBC
portal; however, if assistance is required, the curriculum centre staff are happy to talk through this new
process.
