Patchouli oil MD Pogostemon cablin Patchouli oil is obtained by steam distillation of the dried leaves of Patchouli tree (Pogostemon cablin). It is an evergreen plant with perfumed, downy leaves. It is produced in large quantities, chiefly in Indonesia. The odour of patchouli is extremely complex: camphorated, earthy and woody all at once. Patchouli oil, MD is obtained by molecular distillation of Patchouli oil. Free of iron and of stable colour, it prevents undesirable colour reactions in all perfumery compounds.
