Leica Provides Solutions
for your FISH Assay Needs
Genetic changes leading to loss, gain or reorganization of chromosomal material are an important indicator
of inherited or acquired abnormalities and may play a key role in the development of many cancers.
A popular and widely used method to verify or confirm the occurrence of genetic aberrations is
fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH).
In FISH, specific labeling of chromosomal DNA is achieved by hybridizing a fluorescently labeled probe
to the target area. A fluorescent microscope can then be used to visualize cellular heterogeneity
(in a population) or chromosomal organization (within each cell).
Leica Biosystems supplies many leading FISH laboratories and can offer you a comprehensive range of
best-in-class FISH products for FISH slide preparation, including:
• Sample processing
• Sample preparation and pretreatment
• Probe hybridization
• Stringency washing
• Image acquisition and analysis
The inclusion of products in this catalog does not infer their use in combination. Please refer to the Instructions for Use at: LeicaBiosystems.com for Intended Use for each product.

Kreatech™ FISH Probes
Next Generation FISH
Kreatech FISH Probes are the latest advancement in DNA in situ hybridization. These repeat-depleted probes
are constructed using proprietary REPEAT-FREE™ technology that is based on subtractive hybridization, which
specifically removes all probe repetitive elements that are dispersed throughout the target area of interest.
Depleting these repeat sequences leads to more specific binding kinetics and makes the need for blocking DNA
obsolete. This results in FISH assays with brighter signals and reduced background noise.
FEATURES
BENEFITS
• Bright colors
• Eases interpretation of results
• Reduced background
• Reduces number of repeat assays
• Ready-to-use
• Simplifies workflow

ThermoBrite® Elite
The Solution for Automated FISH Slide Preparation
The ThermoBrite Elite automates and standardizes the FISH slide preparation process including
deparaffinization, pre-treatment, denaturation/hybridization and post hybridization wash. Application of
probe, counterstain and cover slipping are the only manual steps. Just load your slides and walk away.
Minimal hands-on-time frees up technologists for other important tasks.
The ThermoBrite Elite hybridizes with temperature controlled to ± 1°C and can process up to twelve slides
per run with the ability to adapt to smaller batches. For higher throughput, transfer slides to a standard
ThermoBrite instrument to denature/hybridize and continue using your ThermoBrite Elite for additional batch runs.
The intuitive software included enables users to run preloaded protocols or to create up to 1,000 user
defined protocols. The instrument can be programmed to work with virtually any probe or protocol, allowing
the selection of up to ten reagents and three separate waste paths.
FEATURES
BENEFITS
• Bench top unit, 12 slide capacity
• Fast protocol setup and start of run
• Automated fluidics system
• Hands-on-time reduced to 3 steps from >30 (FFPE)
• Hybridization temperature precision to ± 1 °C
• Free up technologists for other tasks
• Workflow based software navigation
• Flexible and easy-to-use
• Open system-preloaded & custom protocols
• Increases laboratory productivity
• Ability to perform post hybridization wash

Clearene™ Solvent
Clearene is a selected blend of terpenes formulated specifically to replace xylene and toluene in histology and cytology laboratory procedures.
It is less oily than other solvent substitutes and therefore dries quickly and does not leave a residue. Clearene is biodegradable and offers the
desirable characteristics of a good solvent but not the harmful drawbacks of aromatic hydrocarbons such as xylene and toluene-based products.

Apex™ Superior Adhesive Slide
Apex Superior Adhesive Slides are microscope slides made of white glass and coated with a special adhesive material that enables the slide to
be more hydrophilic. This hydrophilicity provides a better base for homogeneous covering by aqueous stains and reagents leading to consistent
full slide staining.

Ariol®
The Complete Microscope-Based, Digital Pathology Platform
Ariol brings added quality, efficiency and confidence to FISH analysis and routine breast cancer IHC tests,
so that patients receive optimal care.
Satisfy increasing laboratory demands by improving efficiency, increasing throughput and lowering sample
turnaround times. Simply put, the Ariol delivers high-quality analysis data sooner.
Barcode-driven workflows can help eliminate bottlenecks and processing errors caused by duplicate data
entry. The batch scanning and analysis capabilities mean the system can function 24/7 allowing routine
operations to be carried out in laboratory downtime, maximizing skilled laboratory workers efficiency.
Ariol features a unique SlideLink workflow that allows the side by side visualization of H&E and FISH slide
images from the same case on one screen. Annotations of key tissue areas by a Pathologist (on the H&E
slide) can be translated to the FISH slide within the system, increasing confidence and allowing
Pathologists input to be gathered off-line. By leveraging Ariol’s SlideLink™ function, laboratories can
revolutionize their FISH analysis and save valuable time spent in the darkroom.
Ariol has the ability to create and customize assays for virtually any tissue FISH based assay for complete
flexibility, future proofing the laboratory for the next generation of personalized medicine assays to enter
routine testing.
Ariol is validated for objective analysis of HER2, ER and PR IHC staining as well as HER2/neu FISH, aiding
in a large number of the diagnostic tests involved in the ever expanding treatment decision tree process.
Ariol is available as an 8 slide position system with an automated stage or as a 200 slide capacity system
with the SL200 autoloader and automated stage.
Intended Use: Ariol Multibay System. ARIOL is an automated scanning microscope and image analysis system. It is intended for In Vitro Diagnostic
use as an aid to the pathologist in the detection, classification and counting of cells of interest based on particular color, intensity, size, pattern and
shape. All diagnostic decisions are made by the qualified clinician.
The Ariol MB8 system stage can accommodate 8 slides
