Eligible contestant age: 7-10 years old at the time application is submitted and must attend the Durand Area Schools.
Eligible contestant must be able to participate in the Railroad Days Parade in May. You will be asked to appear in
various parades and community functions. It will be expected that you make yourself available at any time to represent
your title and community of Durand, if asked in a reasonable amount of time to (no less than one week notification).
Applications must be postmarked no later than Wednesday, January 28, 2015 and mailed to:

Each eligible contestant must secure a local business (Durand, Lennon or Bancroft) to sponsor them and obtain a $50.00
sponsor fee to accompany their application.
Contestant must be able to leave their vote collection canister at their sponsor’s place of business.
Each sponsoring business may display one canister. (Please sponsor one prince or princess contestant only)
Conrad’s Towing of Durand will provide contestant with their collection canister. The chairperson will place the canister
at the sponsor’s place of business on Friday, February 6, 2015.
Canisters will remain in sponsor’s place of business for two weeks, Friday, February 6 through Friday, February 20, for
vote collection.
Photos will be taken on Thursday, February 5, 2015 by appointment at A&R Portraits. Contestant is asked to wear a
white button up dress shirt. You will be contacted to make an appointment.
Canisters will be picked up at the close of business day Friday, February 20, 2015 by the chairperson.
Counting of the votes will be conducted by members of the Durand Railroad Days Committee and one non member of
the community present, to be selected by the chairperson.
Winner will be determined by the most votes received. Each cent collected in contestant’s canister will equal one vote.
Winning Prince to be announced in March in co-ordination with the Miss Railroad Days Pageant held on March 14, 2015
at 3pm.
Participation ribbons will be given to all participants.
Winner will receive a $50.00 scholarship, crown and sash, picture in the local newspaper(s) and will participate in the
Durand Railroad Days parade.
In case of a tie, at a special meeting of the Durand Railroad Days Committee, along with one member of the community
chosen by the chairperson, will be eligible to cast one vote for the contestant they believe will best represent the
community during the Railroad Days festivities.
