U9s Eagles (16) vs. St Michaels (11)
Wow! What an amazing game to finish off the season and to get the trophy was a bonus. Our
fielding was awesome as we got 3 outs every innings. Madison Leroy-Wye took a catch and
helped with a number of other outs. Olivia Bedwell played well at 1st base also helping with a
number of outs. Zaran Mortimer played brilliantly at third throwing all the way to 1st to get an
out. He also got another out at 3rd base. Kirra Gibson and Taylor Bastow were close to getting
an out while playing 2nd and right field as they both threw to 1st base just after the runner got
there. Both Ethan Ballment and Kimberley Cassius-Robertson took a great catch while
catching. McKenzie Newson, Madison and Zaran had great outfield hits. Ava Justic, Taylor,
Olivia and Kirra all got safe hits and didn't get out while running the bases. Saphira Alvar and
James Thompson ran super fast along with the rest of the team. This put pressure on the
opposition and helped us to score 7 runs in the 4th innings to secure the win.
We couldn't have done it without the help of many people. I would like to thank Michelle
Newson our assistant coach for missing out on watching her other daughter every week and
coaching the U/9's instead. We are extremely grateful. Thank you to Jess Bedwell for
managing the kids in the dugout and also giving extra tips as they went out to bat. Thanks to
Rhonda Page for scoring every week. Michelle and Amber were a great help at training leading
up to Christmas. There were also many other helpers when the above people were away so
thanks to those people as well. With our early timeslot I appreciate the effort that the parents
went to just to get the kids to the game. That dedication has been passed onto the children and
it was great to see their enthusiasm week in week out. Their enjoyment and always trying their
best at training and the games has shown why they deserved to win. They never gave
up. Congratulations U/9's!
U11s – Eagles (8) vs. Cruisers (23)
The courage shown by our little team this week in the grand final was exceptional, and all our
players can hold their heads up high knowing they put in 100% effort. All the team played well
with the bat, it was unfortunate that a number of great hits seemed to find cruisers gloves, with
runners on bases.
Some magnificent efforts in the field looked promising, however it was a couple of the cruisers
big hitters that did the damage at key points in the game. Some great efforts in the outfield by
Andre, Lukosz, Gabby and Katherine where inspiring. The work in the infield was also fantastic
with Jaydee, Seth, Ashley, Mackenzie, Millie, Zach and Elias. Considering we have never
played on diamond 1 at Stanhope before, they all adapted to the changing conditions of the
surface.
A big thank you to Rose, Kylie, Corrine and Laura for all their assistance this year, Laura we
missed you and hopefully you’re feeling better soon.
Overall the team definitely improved throughout the season, both individually and as a team,
which as a coach is great to see. Great effort kids, have a great off season and looking forward
to catching up at the presentation, GO EAGLES.

B Reserve – Eagles (2) vs. B. Workers (6)
What a wonderful way to finish the season, being in the Grand Final. At the being of the season
when it was decided to enter a B Res. Development team we never envisaged this scenario.
Many of the players had never played a game of softball. Thank you ladies for a wonderful
season, I look forward to you returning next season. To Natasha my A/C a big thank you and to
the Big Fella, what can I say - your knowledge of the game is and has always been
indispensable.
A Grade Eagles (3) vs. St Michaels (1)
We took the diamond to the sounds of Eagle Rock courtesy of a couple of idiot husbands. St
Michaels have been the form team all season with only 1 loss. We had played them 4 times this
season without a win.
The game started with a screaming line drive hit to Jenny at 3rd who promptly caught it & it set
the tone. Nic started off our batting with a safe hit. In step Shalea who gets the first of two
pitched balls that hit her. She seemed to have a bullseye on her....
Amanda hit our runs in with Nic scoring twice & Tahlia also scoring. Honey pitched a fantastic
game & it was a team effort in the field with the ball being hit all over the park. St Michael didn't
score their run until the 7th inning. It's seems only fitting that both Nic & Tahlia caught out the
last 3 outs to win the game!!!! Grand final winners
Mixed 2 – Eagles (10) vs. Waratahs (12)
What a great game to finish the season with. Great decision to bat first with a big lead of 6-0
after the first dig. This extended to 9-1 after another couple of innings, but then they got 7
across to come back to 9-8. Not sure what went wrong, its not that we went to pieces, they just
got in a few lucky hits.
Another run to Waratahs tied it up at 9-9, so we went to a tie break in which we got one home,
but despite a very tricky pick off at third by Robb of their tie break runner, they got a couple of
batters on base and then scored two to win the game. Highlights for us were three spectacular
catches at centre field by Trent, and a screamer hit by Kelly over right fields head to score three
runs. Thanks to all the team for making the grand final such an exciting game, and thanks
everyone who played during the season. Hopefully we can keep the same team together next
season.
