ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
Young children (toddlers through second grade) may frequently display
challenging and aggressive behaviors. Many factors influence behavior,
and clinicians and therapists need to be able to determine the potential
causes of these behaviors. This workshop will provide an overview of
childhood development, discuss how development influences behavior,
differentiate between guidance, discipline and punishment, and discuss
the power of role models and communication. It will also provide assessment tools and strategies as well as specific techniques and interventions
for challenging and aggressive behaviors. This workshop will utilize small
and large group activities, video presentations, and discussion throughout the day, and will provide participants with practical information in
managing challenging behaviors.
