It is designed to increase awareness of changing issues in pediatric health care and to provide a review of selected topics identified by clinicians as some of the more challenging issues managed in day-to-day practice. Upon completion of this conference, participants should have a greater understanding and knowledge of strategies to integrate into practice new developments in the following areas: Choose appropriate therapeutic agents Implement evidence-based guidelines for children with chronic abdominal pain in the primary care medical home. for specific clinical symptoms in children with autism. Consider risks and benefits of medications in relation to levels of impairment and side effects. Perform appropriate screening and diagnostic testing for children with symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Utilize public health resources to address challenges associated with emerging infections and disease outbreaks. Use the 2014 updated guidelines to provide an evidence-based, costeffective approach to the diagnosis and management of bronchiolitis. Recognize enduring truths in the practice of pediatrics. Adopt effective methods to prevent, Identify and manage common sleep disorders in children. Screen for and identify hypertension and pre-hypertension in children. Implement lifestyle modifications and recognize indications for medication in the management of hypertension. identify, and treat influenza, incorporating lessons learned from the 2014-2015 season. Recognize signs of serious acute illness in infants. Stabilize acutely ill infants and coordinate transfer to appropriate facilities Utilize new laboratory tests to improve STI screening in the office setting. Recognize potential emergencies in children with sickle cell disease, and initiate appropriate interventions. This conference has been planned for Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, particularly those in the fields of Pediatrics and Family Medicine.
