Dear Friends of the Community Center,
March is coming in like a lion so we are hoping for a warm
weekend at the end of the month for our Annual Egg Hunt. Right now
the Egg Hunt is scheduled for Daley Field, however given the amount
of snow on the field, we may have to change the location. Please
watch the Community Center facebook page and the newspapers for
updates at to the location of the hunt.
The winter as we all know has been very harsh and I will apologize to
all those that were asked to close doors at the Center and turn out
lights when not in use. We are all facing higher utility bills and fuel
costs. Please treat the Center as your home and conserve whenever
possible. With hundreds of people using the Center each week, it is
easy to leave doors open, but please take care and close them when
you can so that we can keep the heat inside the building. Also, I’m
sure you have noticed how muddy the floor gets in the main hall.
Please wipe your feet when you enter. Again, there are hundreds of
people in and out so it doesn’t take long for the sand and salt to get
tracked in. Some days the hall is so busy I don’t have time to mop the
floor before another group is using it. Thanks for understanding.
Due to the cold winter we have many more people using the Food
Pantry to help with the cost of feeding their family, Huge thanks to all
those that have given during these cold months to help their neighbors
in need. Warm winter clothes and blankets along with winter coats
have been donated during the last few months and we are very
appreciative. White Brook Middle School after school program completed a coat drive last week. The kids gathered a terrific number of
kids coats, and sweatshirts for our Clothing Closet.
Thanks for all your help!

THANKS FOR THE ALL STAR DONATIONS!!
All of our friends at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church and Our Lady of
the Valley Parish for their continued support for our Food Pantry.
To Trinity Lutheran Church, First Congregational Church of Southampton, Ferry St. Package Store, Christ United Methodist Church,
and the Westhampton Council on Aging, as always the cans and foodstuffs you donate each month help so very much!
We are very blessed to have a group of people who make monthly
donations to our pantry. Thank you to Donald Payson; Dave and
Melissa Fagnand; Karen Carr; Clem Couchon; Gene and Anne DeFilippo, Doug and Judy Purcell, Nancy LaFleur, Donna Cushing, A to
Z Storage (Dave, Melissa, and Thomas Boyle), and the Taralinkof
family for your support!
A very big Thank You to Tandem Bagel for their donation of bagels
and to Small Oven Bakery for the wonderful croissants, and Danish.
Many thanks to the Holmes Studio of Music and Dance for the food
drive they held at their winter dance show to benefit our Food Pantry.
Many thanks to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Holyoke for the car
load of groceries the parish donated.
Happy Birthday to Katy Geertsma and Abby
McClaflin who celebrated their birthdays by
asking for canned goods instead of presents!
The girls did a great job by collecting 150
pounds of food for the Food Pantry!
Many thanks to the Williston Northampton
School Community Service Club for making mini chicken pot pies,
ham sandwiches and baking chocolate chip cookies for families in our
Food Pantry. All of the food was very much appreciated.
Huge thanks to Big Y and the Southampton Women’s Club for collecting non-perishable items at Big Y in the new collection bin for our
Food Pantry. Thanks to all of you for helping the pantry by dropping
in an extra can at the collection boxes when you are shopping at either
Big E’s Supermarket or Big Y Supermarket.
It is our hope that you know how very grateful we are for all the
support we receive from the greater Easthampton Community.
Many people drop off clothing, a few bags of groceries, some blankets, or coats, some books for our lending library, or puzzles for
the puzzle exchange. Those few items all ad up and without that
support we would not be able to serve all of the people that come
to us looking for assistance.
Thanks to all who share to help their neighbors!
It is truly appreciated!
