Program Objectives
Upon completion of the “Advances in Pediatric Muscular
Dystrophies” activity, the participants will be able to:
• Be familiar with the recent advances in the diagnostic
tools and methodologies used and with recent and
cutting edge treatment modalities.
• Know when to refer patients with muscular disorders
to neurologists.
• Be a good liaison person between subspecialists and
parents and patients with muscular disorders.
Upon completion of the 2015 Pediatric Update,
the participants will be able to:

Hurley Medical Center and the Michigan Chapter of the American

• Understand the management, as well as the strategies
for prevention of staph infections in children.
• Understand current pediatric issues at the state and
national level.
2015 Hurley Pediatric Conference
• Know the diagnosis and management of obstructive
sleep apnea in children.
• Identify red flags and know the management of
pediatric headache.
• Identify pediatric MSK exam findings that are unique
to children, describe their natural course and discuss
points of reassurance, indications for observation, and
histories/findings that warrant further workup.
• Initiate ADHD work-up, describe ADHD diagnosis
criteria, and identify when a case should be referred to
a subspecialist.
• Identify current topics in pediatric dentistry.
