MEMORANDUM
To:
All Managing Directors of Member Organizations of the PMAWCA
From:
The Secretary General
Subject:
Invitation to nominate participants for PMAWCA Executive Seminar on
Contemporary Human Resources Management in partnership with
GIMI - Israel: from 6 – 10 July 2015 in Tema, (Ghana)
………………………………………………………………………………………………………
As part of PMAWCA’s human capacity building programme, there have been requests for
some refresher course for senior executives of our ports on contemporary human
resources management in order to explore modern challenges and practices in human
resources management especially in the ports industry.
Thus course will explore the peculiar characteristics of human resource management in
the port industry, the changing roles of Port Authorities in their responsibilities for
recruitment and management of employee performance and port labour productivity. The
course will also discuss the nuances of dock and casual labour administration both under
service port systems and landlord port systems.
In view of the importance of the subject, the PMAWCA’s Technical Committee for
Administrative and Legal Affairs (ALA) at its last meeting in 2014 recommended this
seminar among others activities to be organized for the benefit of member ports of the
Association.
It is in this regard that the Secretariat is partnering with the Galilee International
Management Institute (GIMI), a globally renowned training institute which offers courses
in port management and many other professional subjects, to conduct organize this
seminar.
This seminar will be hosted by the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority in Tema (Ghana)
from 6th to 10th July 2015.
All PMAWCA member Organizations as well as other interested stakeholder institutions
in the ports sector are therefore kindly invited and encouraged to nominate senior level
executives in charge of Human Resources Management, Administration, Labour Union
matters, and dock labour, to attend this very important course.
