Digital Skills Audit
The ‘DigiKnow Skills Audit’ comprises six short quizzes with five questions each.
Students complete the quizzes to reveal a personalized profile spanning six
different genres: Digital Guru, Media Mogul, Career Builder, Information Junkie,
URL Digital Dodger, and Online Networker. The feedback given provides suggestions on

how to build on existing practices and skills, and if delivered as part of face-to-face
session can form the basis for a discussion with students about the digital
technologies.
This ‘mini’ course is accessible from the ‘My home’ page in Moodle and can either

DigiKnow: Using Prezi
The ‘DigiKnow: Using Prezi’ course provides a brief introduction to this ‘cloudbased’ presentation software and storytelling program. As part of the course
students create a Prezi account, watch a short video tutorial on how Prezi works,
URL and create their own Prezi which they are then invited to share in the ‘Prezi Forum’

DigiKnow: Using Windows Movie Maker
The ‘DigiKnow: Using Windows Movie Maker’ course provides a brief introduction
to this freeware video editing software created by Microsoft. As part of the course
students watch a short video tutorial and are then set the task of creating their

choose to use the practice resources provided. In addition to WMM information
the ‘mini’ course also provides a number of additional guides and resources,
including a basic introduction to Creative Commons and Flickr.

DigiKnow: Using Google Sites
The ‘DigiKnow: Using Google Sites’ course provides a brief introduction to one of
the many free webpage creation tools available on the internet. As part of the
course students watch a short introduction video about Google Sites, create a

DigiKnow: Digital Tattoo
The ‘DigiKnow: Your Digital Tattoo’ course aims to increase students’ awareness
of their ‘digital tattoo’, or ‘digital footprint’ (i.e. the data left behind when they use
digital services online). The course reveals how some employers use social media
URL profiles as part of their vetting process when employing new members of staff. It

also presents the benefits and risks involved in making personal information public
online, and finally the course shows students how to track the data that is
available about them online.
