The sound of carols drifting on the breeze, a smell of festive spices in the
air, and the stunning sight of more than 130 wooden chalets nestling in
picturesque streets and squares - it can only be Bath Christmas Market…
There isn’t a better place to get into the
festive mood, with mulled wine, comforting
fayre and delightful entertainment dotted
around the market site, adding to the
atmosphere of this wonderful shopping
experience. Take your time wandering around
the stalls where you will find all you need for
your celebrations - food, decorations and
gifts galore. See the list of stalls overleaf to
make sure you don’t miss a single one - and
you are sure to find gifts suitable for even
the most hard to buy for people.
Christmas isn’t Christmas without warming,
festive fayre, and you’ll find plenty at Bath
Christmas Market. Try sumptuous cakes and
pies, and fill up with delicious sausages and
gourmet burgers - and don’t forget to find
time in the day to treat yourself to the
obligatory mulled wine and mince pie!
Christmas shopping in Bath is already a
pleasure. With a compact city centre
brimming with high street favourites and

designer brands, and dotted with inviting
bistros, restaurants and bars, a shopping trip
to Bath is a great day out, not a chore - and
Bath Christmas Market is the highlight.
Get out into the city to explore, but make
sure you leave plenty of time to do each one
of the Christmas market stalls justice - with
such a delightful concoction of crafts,
trinkets and treasures to discover, you’ll
need plenty of time to browse.

A touch of added sparkle
You’ll find that your visit to Bath Christmas
Market is unlike any other shopping trip,
with loads of festive extras to make your day
more enjoyable, and to get you into the
Christmas spirit. Look out for entertainers you’ll find musicians playing on street
corners, or you may stumble across a friendly
cycling panda or snow queen joining in the
festivities as you move around the stalls.
While you relish a warming mulled wine or
cider, enjoy carols sung by a local choir or
school – you may even catch a performance
by one of Grenville Jones’s (of TV’s ‘Last
Choir Standing’ fame) choirs. Why not join
in? Grenville himself will be hosting a free
carol singing workshop on 3rd Dec from
noon at the Guildhall – just come along for
fun, and you may find yourself performing to
other shoppers that afternoon!
Christmas is a time for children, and they
are certainly well catered for at Bath
Christmas Market. See their faces light up
as they catch sight of the magnificent
Victorian carousel on Stall Street, and watch
them delight at the funny street performers
– the Snow Queen and her ice elf are always
a favourite. Take them along to the free craft
workshops on weekends (except 3rd Dec) at
the Friends Meeting House on York Street, or
to the Holburne Museum where they can
join lantern making workshops (5th-7th Dec)
before parading to the Christmas Market
(8th Dec), along Great Pulteney Street – a
magical experience. Bring them along to see
what they would like to add to their
Christmas lists, with many of the stalls
selling toys and children’s gifts – then come
back without them… the market opens late
most nights, and with 18 days of magical
shopping, there is plenty of time to come
back time and again.
