Dear Artisans,
You are the greatest representatives of hand made art on the island. Thank you all for showing your best work. I received so many
compliments on how professional the show looked and I look forward to having another wonderful year.
The Vineyard Artisans cook book will soon be available for sale online. We will also be selling the book at the shows this year.
Proceeds support our scholarship fund. Many volunteers and countless hours of work went in to our first book, and I think you’ll
agree it turned out really well. Please tell customers, family and friends. The book makes a wonderful gift. It is also available at Bunch
of Grapes bookstore in Vineyard Haven. Hats off to Kevin McGrath and Tara Kenny again. They are our web gurus and advertising
geniouses. We are very lucky to have them in our group.
Our first Vineyard Artisans Video Commercial has been made, check it out on our website.

THE VINEYARD ARTISANS MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Vineyard Artisans Festivals is to promote Fine Art and Craft hand-made by Islanders. We have grown from 65
original artisans in 1995, to over 120 today. My commitment is to continue to provide a link between the Island community and the
Arts, providing an opportunity for both new and established Island artisans to show and sell their work.

We encourage you to exhibit your one of a kind and limited
edition work. An artisan who works in more than one media
category must submit an application in each category. If only
one is accepted only work in that category may be exhibited.
Exhibitors who bring work that is not of the quality shown in
slides or work not accepted will be removed from the show.
All work must be original and handmade by the artist, or with
assistance under the artist’s direct supervision. Artist’s designs
replicated by a 3rd party on mass produced items are not
acceptable; reproductions including giclée prints can only amount
to 25% of your booth, must be clearly labeled and displayed in
a secondary manner - in a bin not hung on the wall. In addition,
the following items are not acceptable: objects made from
commercially available kits, plans or patterns; imports; factorymade or assembled items and prints that do not have an archival
lifespan of at least 20 years.

Residency Requirements:
Exhibitors must be a permanent resident of Martha’s Vineyard
or have met the residency requirements and been an approved
exhibitor of the Vineyard Artisans Festivals prior to January 15,
2005.
Permanent Resident: a person that resides in one of the six
towns on Martha’s Vineyard on a permanent year round basis.
Permanent year round basis shall be established by proof that
the applicant meets at least three of the following criteria:
1. is a registered voter in a town on Martha’s Vineyard.
2. either owns a home on Martha’s Vineyard or has a
lease for a year round apartment or house.
3. has a vehicle registered in one of the six towns on
Martha’s Vineyard.
4. has a local landline telephone number.
Proof of residency must be provided with this application and is
valid only for the present year.

Please select your images carefully. You must submit images that
are representative of the work to be shown. If other work that is
not within your category is brought to the show after acceptance,
you will be removed from the show.
Work that reflects a variety within the same category should be
submitted on one application and the slides should reflect the
proportion of work that will be represented in the booth (i.e., 3
oil paintings slides and two giclee print slides). A SEPARATE set of
images must be submitted for each category you are applying to.
Images of selected exhibitors will be retained for publicity and
returned at the end of the season.

Deadline for Season Commitment:
This deadline assures you the same or similar booth as your
previous year.
The application deadline is March 15, 2014.
All applications must be postmarked by this date. No Exceptions!
You will be notified of the jury’s decision by April 4, 2014.
Open Deadline:
We welcome applications throughout the year for any of the
Artisans Festivals. Please follow all guidelines for entry, as spelled
out in the applications. While interior spaces are generally filled,
we have a wait list, and there is always space outdoors. Tents are
recommended for outdoor spaces.

Open to all media with an emphasis on home and garden.

will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

Aromatheraphy/Botanicals: Handcrafted natural bodycare, homecare,
candles, soaps, oils, dried flowers, herbs and living wreaths.
Basketry: Functional and sculptural work where the material used is
woven or plaited.
Book Arts: Functional and sculptural work where the primary material is
paper and focus is on handmade paper, bookbinding, calendars, posters and
stationary.
Ceramics: Functional and sculptural work where the primary material
used is either handbuilt and/or thrown clay. Clay work that is made from a
mold is only acceptable if the mold was made by the artist.
Clothing / Wearable Art: Functional and sculptural work where the
primary intention is to be worn and the primary material is fabric.

Digital Art: Original, two-dimensional work using computer technology to
craft, manipulate or print visual images. Work must be printed on archival
quality paper and with archival quality inks. Each print must be properly
signed and numbered as a limited edition of no more than 250 inclusive of
all sizes.
Drawing: Art on paper or other surfaces using charcoal, pencil, pastels, etc.
Fiber / Leather Art: Functional and sculptural work where the primary
material is fiber and/or leather. Includes wall hangings, quilts, handbags, belts,
shawls and home accessories.
Furniture: Work where the primary intention is furniture. All media
included.
The 7th Annual Holiday Show - Grange Hall
Saturday, December 13 only

Home Furnishings: Functional work where the primary focus in on
accessories for the home. All media included.
Booth Information & Requirements:
Glass: Functional and sculptural work where the primary material is glass.
All participants must provide their own booths, which should have a
professional appearance. The Show Manager reserves the right to reject
any portion of a booth set up.
Jewelry / Metalsmithing: Hand fabricated primarily from precious
materials - karat gold, sterling silver and the use of gem stones, enamels, etc.
All Booth Fees are non-refundable.

Mixed Media: Functional and sculptural work where the primary intention
is the union of two or more materials.
Painting: Artwork in watercolors, acrylic and oils. Please see Eligibility

Photography: Original, two-dimensional work created from a negative
or transparency using camera technology and darkroom printing. All
prints must be hand processed by the photographer, or under the direct
supervision of the photographer, from the original negative or transparency, signed and numbered by the artist in a limited edition of no more
than 250 inclusive of all sizes.
Printmaking: Works on paper or other materials that include the
following: etching, lithography, monoprinting, wood cuts, and chine-collé.
Sculpture: Functional and decorative art. All media included.
