Homemade Kites Today for our activity we made our own kites from simple materials. Since spring has arrived to Black River Falls what a better time to fly a kite. Besides having fun, kite making involves critical thinking, trial and error, and other important scientific skills. Here are some interesting facts: There are some kites that can fly in little to no wind, and different kites that will only fly in strong winds. Some people spend hundreds of dollars to buy the latest kite on the market. On the other hand the materials for our kites were around $1.50 a kite! Ask your child: What did you like most about the activity today? What did you learn about making your own kite What surprised you about making and testing your own kite? Try this at home! Try making different and new kites out of everyday items. Be creative! Test out which designs work and which don’t. Explore different websites and books about kite making.
