“FOLLOWING THE THRACIANS” dedicated on archaeological excavations.
BACKGROUND
Project “Following the Thracians” is the successor project of two EVS projects Sdrujenie
“Nadejda-CRD” has implemented in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
In 2012 we did our first short-term EVS called “Thracian Past – European Future”, dedicated
to ancient Thracian cultural heritage. The project was successfully implemented in
Sboryanovo reserve (in Northeast Bulgaria) resulting with big archaeological achievements.
During the project were found fragments of silver jewelry with medallions with female faces,
bronze fibulas, iron weapons, cult objects and pottery.
In 2013 and 2014 we did our second project “Thracian
Heritage”. Totally 30 volunteers has participated in
archaeological excavations at 4 archaeological sites:
Sboryanovo reserve, near Sveshtari village, Northeastern
Bulgaria; Vetren Village, Pistiros Archaeological site, near
Septemvri, Southern Bulgaria; Archaeological sites in Ahtopol,
a town and seaside resort on the southern Bulgarian Black Sea coast and Area in Velingrad
called “Sveti Iliya”, a town in Pazardzhik region, Southern Bulgaria. The excavations brought
significant results of royal funerals, ceramics, findings of coins, etc.
THIS MOTIVATED US TO APPLY THE NEXT EVS PROJECT “FOLLOWING THE THRACIANS”
The project was planned in 4 sessions, including totally 30 volunteers. In the summer of
2015 we will implement the first 2 sessions of the project with 12 volunteers, as
