MISSION 31 PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT FEATURINGTHE WORKS OF CARRIE VONDERHAAR
In June 2014, Fabien Cousteau and his team of
aquanauts embarked on Mission 31, the longest
science expedition to take place at Aquarius, the
world’s only underwater marine laboratory 63
feet beneath the sea. Fabien’s Mission 31 broke
new ground in ocean exploration and honored the
50th anniversary of his grandfather’s original
underwater living experiment by going deeper,
longer and further, while broadcasting each
moment thus exposing the world to the
adventure, drama and
mystique of what lies
beneath. We are

CINCINNATI’S PLAYHOUSE IN THE PARK
PRESENTS, “BIRD BRAIN”
When a kindhearted woodcutter comes across a
nest of freezing baby birds, he gives them a warm
home under his hat. The problem is, he lives in a
world where tipping your
hat to others is not only a
courtesy, but also the law,
with severe punishments
for disobeying. The
woodcutter finds himself
torn between doing what
he feels is right and
following the social norms.
Will he follow the rules, or
follow his heart? This
charming fable about
choosing to be different is
full of laughs and the lesson
that strange behavior isn’t always foolish.

USING TECHNOLOGY IN CLASSICAL PAINTING
Using 35 years experience working as a
professional artist, I will teach methods I have
developed that combine today’s technology with
classical principles to achieve realistic and
impressionistic paintings and drawings. In this
class, you will paint a portrait in oils from photos
you take. You’ll use Photoshop to create a series of
prints to use as reference. We will address
composition, establish light and shadow,
determine values, and create a harmonious color
scheme. I’ll demonstrate glazing techniques and
discuss the use of third-party filters and phone
apps. These processes may be applied to other
painting genres. I estimate 20% of the class time I
