Dr. Abdullah Alrefaie Director of The Home of Innovation SABIC SABIC initiatives in green LEED certified building Abstract: One of SABIC big initiative is the Home of innovation at SPADC site it is under construction and it is planned to be LEED certified and the goal is to have it as zero net energy.This presentation will present the green thinking and effort of SABIC in these buildings Biography: Abdullah joined SABIC in 1998 as a Corrosion Control Engineer at STC-Jubail, responsible for providing technical expertise to mitigate corrosion and other forms of materials degradation problems within SABIC’s petrochemical plants. During his tenure at STC-Jubail, he successfully led more than 80 technical service requests (TSRs) and research projects. These TSRs and projects yielded estimated operations savings greater than SR300 MM, multiple corporate awards and 20 scientific publications. He has been elected as chairman for National Association of Corrosion and Engineering (NACE-J) Jubail chapter (+450 members), and effectively managed the whole activities (2010-2012). In 2012, he joined SABIC CRI as a staff scientist conducting various fundamental researches relevant to flexible electronics and water disinfectant processes. In 2014 Abdullah was appointed as senior manager for the Fundamental Engineering & Design department under the Innovative Engineering Solution (IES). He has played a major role in fostering innovation culture within SABIC through SABIC Technical Meetings (STMs) and Innovation Days activities during his career. Recently, he appointed as a director of the Home of InnovationTM Program. Abdullah obtained a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Kind Abdulaziz University (1997), and MSc (2002) & PhD (2009) in Corrosion Science and Engineering from the University of Manchester-UK.
