Since 1989, DR HandMade Strings has been dedicated to making wonderful sounding handmade strings. The
idea is that great sound inspires a musician to play better and longer, while enjoying themselves even more.
Many of us at DR HandMade Strings are players. It is from our own playing experience, our own obsession
with music, as well as the highly valued input from many players worldwide that encourage us at DR to
continually strive and increase the range of sounds available to guitar and bass players. We are especially
grateful to those players who let us know they can hear, feel, and appreciate the difference. DR makes a
diverse range of types and models of strings because each one does clearly provide a different sound and
feel for the many styles of playing and players.
At DR, we maintain copious amounts of guitars (especially Guild acoustics) for testing. We are partial to
Guild guitars for 2 reasons. First, we like them. Second, Mark Dronge, the founder of DR HandMade
Strings, is the son of Guild Guitars Founder, Al Dronge.

Tite-Fit round-wound nickel-plated electric guitar strings are designed to be a great all-around string. They are available in a
wide range of gauges. Based upon a round core, the construction techniques for the Tite-Fit electrics are very old. However,
the core wire and wrap wire in DRs are the latest, most advanced and expensive metals available. For flexibility, for tone, for
long life: for Rock, Blues, Heavy metal, Jazz. Tite-Fits are a wonderful all-around string.

Pure Nickel Electric Guitar Strings wound on Round Cores. The totally real Vintage string.
In the DR tradition of using old style construction to improve modern performance, Pure Blues electric guitar strings are
designed with pure nickel wrap wire, round wound upon round cores. While this is a slow, expensive method of string making, it
does produce a string acclaimed for increased sustain, vintage tone, and great low tones for playing rhythm to lead. The extra
step of winding pure nickel around a round core gives the Pure Blues a punch that players say they are surprised to get in a
vintage style string.

The Rare phosphor bronze acoustic strings are departure from the standard, good quality bronze string currently available...not
necessarily better, but possessing a new, different, and stronger “voice”. When DR set out to produce a string with new
characteristics, our goal was to redesign contemporary thinking about what phosphor bronze can do for a good acoustic guitar.
Hand-carved arch-tops and dreadnaughts and good steel string acoustic guitars of rosewood, maple, and mahogany seem to
benefit from a distinct improvement in tone, depth, and sustain with Rare phosphor strings. Players who want a fatter and louder
sound, as well as a deeper bottom (who like to hear their guitars ring out) will appreciate the Rare phosphor tone, sound, and
feel. According to our heavy-playing bluegrass friend, three time national guitar picking champion Steve Kaufman, Rares last an
unusually long time. Steve recommends DR to all his students.

sustain. The tone does not seem to decay as do other phosphor bronze strings, which we think of as decaying in a curve. The
Sunbeam phosphor seem to sustain in a straight line, until the sound “falls off”. The Sunbeam phosphor are also musically

In order to create a very unique Bajo Quinto set, we have used three different materials which are
stainless steel, phosphor bronze and nickel plated. .060 & .080 – Hi-Beam Stainless Steel bass strings
are round wound and constructed upon a round core with loop ends. Both of these strings will provide
highly flexible and musically bright string. .026, .036, .046, .030 – All of these strings are from our Zebra
Series. Every other coil is Nickel Plated Steel, Every other coil RARE Phosphor Bronze on a round core
with loop ends.

They provide more depth of tone, and are a bit stiffer than Hi-Beams. Bass players who are into slapping, popping, and tapping
will love the high end and depth of Lo-Rider. The slight bit of stiffness makes Lo-Rider bass strings very accurate when playing

Marcus Miller has personally worked with DR to develop a new and improved version of one of the best stainless
round wound bass strings on the market. The effort took over a year, and the result is a “fatter, deeper, smoother”
string that satisfied Marcus Miller’s demanding standard. Fatter tone. Deeper sound, smoother feel and response are
the qualities that separate Marcus Miller “Fat-Beams” from all other ordinary bass strings. New “Fat-Beams” are also
