The company name comes from an Irish writer James Joyce's novel, Ulysses and refers to a long and adventurous voyage. The company president Keisuke Uozumi opened his online shop, Photo Life Laboratory Ulysses in 2009. Over the following year the number of shops that carried the products, including Tokyu Hands, and Kitamura Photo Equipment at Tsutaya Daikanyama T-SITE, greatly increased. In 2013, in order to fund the mass production of messenger style camera bags, Ciclissimo, a crowd funding site, Kibidango was used. 6.5million yen was eventually raised in 18 days, which records the 4th largest fund-raising amount for crowd funding in Japan and the highest amount for manufacturing projects. Concept A t Ulysses, we are focused on feelings that cannot be quantified, such as warmth, comfort, a sense of reassurance and fondness with products that are designed to be loved. Kensuke Uozumi, who has been an enthusiastic amateur cameraman himself for 20 years, performs the planning, proposal and basic design with a user's perspective to create products that respond to what a camera enthusiast would want. We thrive on challenge and design products with timeless and universal values. We plan to fund our new range of camera bags on the world largest crowd funding site Kickstarter. Material & Technique C iclissimo, a messenger style camera bag, is made of highly durable canvas, which creates a great texture with age. It has a quick release adjuster by Duraflex that allows to quickly adjust the length of the strap, and can be used as a messenger bag or a shoulder bag. Inside the bag, it has movable partitions and a pocket for a laptop (max.13inch), which makes it easy to store cameras, a laptop, a mobile phone, and other small items. Arciere, our leather wrist strap, can be used to prevent SLR cameras with and without mirror from dropping off by adjusting and tightening the strap around your wrist. Full vegetable tanning leather by Italian leather company, Badalassi Carlo is used for belts and strap, and with cushioning sandwiched inside, it feels comfortable without digging into the wrist even when used for a heavy camera. Minimo, which is a wooden ring strap, can be fitted onto a mobile phone or a compact camera, to prevent devices from falling over by putting a finger through the ring. The product is made of natural woods such as rosewood, sawo, and hard maple, which does not scratch the surface of the devices. The wooden ring is carefully manufactured one by one by craftsmen and shaped with a grinder, which gives the product a fantastic texture that metal or plastic material does not have. Uozumi Co.,Ltd. We focused on natural wood as a material with good texture that will not damage devices. The wooden rings are all hand-made.
