The Excelsior Springs Area Career Center takes
pride in the quality and professional classes provided to the emergency services professionals.
These evening classes appeal to the adult students offering instructional class time and handson teaching. Small class sizes allow opportunity
for skills practice.

too many people wait until the last minute to register. Classes
have minimum and maximum enrollment requirements. Sometimes just one or two people make the difference between “GO”

Emergency Services Training at Excelsior Springs Area Career Center
Firefighter I & II
This course is designed to prepare participants
for occupations and advancement in the fire
service. Content includes fire suppression, fire
investigation, fire prevention, emergency and
rescue services, hazardous materials, emergency response, and coordination with other agencies. This course is both a physical and
knowledge demanding course. Upon successful completion of this course the student will
have received training for certification as a Firefighter I & II, Hazardous Materials Awareness &
Operations and will allow the student to be eligible for testing as a Firefighter through the Missouri Division of Fire Safety. The student must
be 18 years of age, have a drivers license and
high school diploma or GED to test for certification.

The following qualifications apply:

Must be 18 years of age at time of testing


Must have high school diploma or GED

Must have a valid drivers license
Uniforms: Polo shirt
with program logo
(provided by the
school), navy blue
uniform pants, black
belt with silver buckle, black boots or approved black shoes

There may be other incidental costs during this
program

