BETTER BALANCE
Maintaining balance and mobility
is essential to living an active and
independent life. The bad news is that
maintaining good balance becomes more
challenging as age-related impairments
start to chip away at our activity and
confidence levels. The good news is
that through systematic and specific
activity-based programs, improvements
can be made in multiple dimensions of
the balance system. This class aims to
increase your stability, flexibility, strength,
mobility and agility and decrease your
risks of falling. This 10-session class
will include multiple assessments to
determine your particular trouble spots,
allowing a more personalized focus
towards improving your balance. Wear
comfortable clothes and shoes. All

ACTIONS YOU CAN TAKE
AFTER THE GREAT RECESSION
HOW TO WIN COLLEGE
SCHOLARSHIPS
The Great Recession. Yes, that’s
what some now call what happened
to the market when the S&P 500 fell
over 37% in 2008. Why worry about
that anymore? The S&P 500 went up
over 32% in 2013. What can we learn
from what happened then and what
has just happened now? How can we
prepare for what’s next? Can we protect
against another 2008? What can you
do to protect the 30% or more gains
you may well have had in the last few
years? Join us for some helpful ideas.

With the cost of a four-year college
exceeding $100,000, scholarships
seem more attractive than ever. Yet, few
parents and students know where to

superstar to win free college money. This
popular course is taught by a Harvard
and UC Berkeley graduate who won
nearly $250,000 in scholarship money,
and worked in the Harvard financial aid
office. He will teach you where to find

how to complete scholarship forms

BUILDING A CONFIDENT
RETIREMENT
8000
Planning for retirement can be stressful
and confusing. There are so many things
to consider. Why not learn a simple
approach to planning for retirement?
We use a four-step process based on a
pyramid with the most important being
the base, “Covering Essentials”. Once
we’ve figured out how much it will take
in retirement to cover essentials and
how we’re going to do it, we move on to
the next step, “Ensuring Your Lifestyle”.
This is followed by “Preparing for the
Unexpected” and “Leaving a Legacy”.
We think you’ll find this process is
simple, but very powerful, and will help
you have a confident retirement!

Fall 2014
Dad and Me!
This class for children and dads includes a parent/child interaction time followed
by discussion time for dads. We will enjoy crafts, group games and literacy
activities with our children. During discussion, we’ll talk about issues that are
unique to fatherhood and learn about discipline and discuss our goals of parenting.
Raising Siblings
This class is based on the book Siblings Without Rivalry by Adele Faber
and Elaine Mazlish and will cover the following topics in parent discussion:
avoiding comparisons, siblings in roles, what to do when kids fight,
and treating uniquely instead of equally.
Understanding Your Child: A Look at Temperament
Enjoy a variety of creative activities with your child at the beginning of class
followed by circle time and parent discussion. During discussion, we’ll learn
about the 3 temperament styles: easy, slow to warm up and feisty. We will
identify our own and our child’s temperament style and learn about ideas
for dealing successfully with each temperament.
Grandparenting in Today’s World
Are you a grandparent? Here is a chance to experience some quality time
with your grandchildren making art projects, singing, reading books, playing
dress up and more! After activity time, you will join other grandparents in
discussing grandparenting in today’s world. The children will continue activities
with the early childhood staff while you are meeting with the other grandparents.

Do you have a new baby? Did you recently move to the
area? If so, your child’s name is not on the Roseville
Area School’s database. By registering your child’s name
now you will be notified of early childhood screening,
when to register your child for kindergarten, and receive
district publications. Call now: 651.628.6449.
Early Childhood Screening
The State of Minnesota requires a free screening of a
child’s development, vision, hearing, immunizations and
overall health. The purpose of having your child screened
early is to identify any concerns that may interfere with their
learning. Screening dates are offered for 3-4 year olds year
round. Call 651.487.4378 to make an appointment.
