RJ Jewelers makes original creative designs for clients all across the country.
Often, depending on the intricacy and level of detail of the custom piece, a three
dimensional model is made for the client’s approval before the final piece is created.
The piece is then hand made by either traditional fabrication techniques or the lost
wax casting method. Finally, the piece is hand finished and presented to the client
as a unique and one of a kind piece of art. RJ Jewelers also displays and sells
handmade jewelry by local designers such as Stephen Gonzales and Terry Grosser.
RJ Jewelers is proud to be the recipient of the Cayuga County Chamber of
Commerce 2013 Business of the Year Award and for the past 17 years voted the
#1 Best Jewelry Store Award for the Region. To celebrate their 29th Year
Anniversary, RJ Jewelers has been giving away a $100 Jewelry Gift Card every
month this year, no purchase is necessary to win. Just

The History and Beliefs Surrounding Diamonds
As told through the Encarta, Sanskrit texts dating back
before 400 B.C. found that people associated significant
value and wonderment with crystals. There is also significant research that dates back to the 1330s showing diamond cutting in Venice. The diamond trading business flourished towards the
15th century with the opening of Eastern trade routes. Ancient theories touting the
magical powers of diamonds were prevalent: some thought the 1500s were known as the pearl age. Pearls are unique as

What’s the deal with Diamonds
The following four C's are the main factors that contribute
to the price of a diamond. All four C's interact with each
other and no one is more important then the others. Understanding these characteristics will help you pick out the perfect diamond.
Carat is the measure of weight for gems. It has nothing to
do with size. The way a diamond is cut and how it is mounted
can make a diamond look bigger or smaller regardless of its
carat or point size (100 points= 1 carat). Please be aware
that larger diamonds are more rare then smaller diamonds.
This is why the price of diamonds rises exponentially as the
carat weight rises. For example, a 4ct diamond will not be
twice the price of a 2ct diamond (assuming the other three
C's remain constant.) The 4ct will be substantially more then
twice the price of the 2ct. because there are so few of these
diamonds found in the mining process.
A diamond's Clarity is graded on the number, location,
size and type of inclusions found within the stone. An inclusion is either a mineral or fracture that occurred while the
diamond was being formed by nature. These inclusions may
look like crystals, specs or even clouds. Diamond clarity is
graded on a scale from "F" (flawless) to "I" where inclusions
can be seen by the naked eye (without the use of a 10x loupe.)
The more inclusions, the less valuable the stone and the less
fire and brilliance the stone will have.
Diamonds can have a significant range of Color and the
more colorless the stone, the more valuable. The scale range
starts at D (colorless) to Z. (There is no A, B, or C.) Grades
D though I are colorless to near-colorless while J through Z
will have hues of yellow to brown. As inclusions will affect
the brilliance of a stone, the more color a stone has, the less
brilliant it will appear. The difference of these shades is often
very subtle and can only be measured by an expert. And, as
you might expect, the stones with less color are more rare
and therefore more expensive.
The Cut of the diamond refers to the proportions and
angles of the finished diamond. Every facet of the diamond must be cut and then polished to precise specifications. Scientific formulas map out how to best cut a stone
so light will reflect from one facet to another until it finally
disperses through the top of the stone. The better the light
reflects out, the greater the fire and brilliance, the more
expensive the diamond. For example, a diamond that is cut
too deeply will disclose light through the sides where a shallow-cut diamond will lose light through the bottom. Diamond
cutters have different parameters for each cut of the "fancy
shapes" (princess, emerald, marquise etc) to produce a stone
with great fire and brilliance.
Die Striking
Diamond rings that are crafted to last a lifetime are using a
technology called die-striking. A die-struck ring is made by
striking metal (gold) under tons of pressure creating a dense,
porosity-free metal that will wear longer, polish brighter, and
secure your diamonds better through the years. Die-struck
high density prongs ensure your diamond is securely set with
precious metal that is stronger and polishes brighter.
Refining
If gold is simply melted or re-used with out first being refined
the resulting metal may be brittle, dull and prone to porosity.
Not only can we ensure the quality of the metals, we guarantee the karat. Our quality jewelry manufacturers are the best
in the industry and trust their sources that the karat they are
purchasing is as promised.
What's a karat?
Karat designates the amount of pure gold in the metal combination. The higher the percent of gold found in the metal,
the higher the karat. Below are the most common karats found
in gold jewelry today.
24kt - gold is 100% (or pure) gold and is an exceptionally
soft metal, easily recognized by its orange-yellow color.
Camelot, because of our commitment to the most modern
manufacturing techniques, has developed the technology to
produce 24kt rings that are more durable than those made
by other manufacturers.
18kt - gold contains 75% pure gold (18/24) and the remaining 25% of metals are alloys that are added to provide strength,
durability, and variations in color. 18kt gold rings are typically more expensive then 14kt gold rings because more pure
gold is present within the ring.
14kt - 58.3% of the metal in a 14kt ring is pure gold. 14kt is
the most common gold blend because the alloys fused with
the gold produce a more durable metal combination that will
wear well over time. As you have probably seen, 14kt gold
comes in a variety of colors.
10kt gold is the lowest karat that the USA legally considers
gold. Like all gold combinations, the alloys mixed with pure
gold will change its color and give it strength and durability.
Don't confuse karat with Carat. Spelled with a "K" indicates
the metal and with a "C" refers to the weight of a stone.
What is white gold?
A white gold ring is made the same way a yellow gold ring is
made, but the alloys combined with the pure gold give the
finished metal combination a white hue. Any number of gold/
alloy combinations can be used to make gold appear white.
After the new white colored gold ring is created, the finished
ring is plated with a precious metal called rhodium. The
rhodium finish gives the ring a bright luster that is impossible
to produce when creating white gold alloy combinations.
National Merit Schoarship
CITIZEN is proud to introduce a new scholarship program
to support academic achievement throughout the country. The
company will present a cash award to a student in each of the
50 states based on the student’s academic accomplishment
under the auspices of National Merit Scholarship Corporation. These new awards, named the National Merit Citizen
Eco-Drive Scholarships, will be given to high school students
graduating with the class of 2013. Along with achieving excellent academic records, there is a preference for student
recipients who were also members of their high school sponsored sports teams. As part of Citizen’s international media
ad campaign, Unstoppable, which attributes to the continual
drive and success of certain athletic individuals, CITIZEN is
proud to award this scholarship to select students to fuel that
